AWA 2006 - Iron Editor Winner

Post by Brad » Thu Nov 02, 2006 10:17 pm

So after several complaints and requests, I have finally uploaded my Iron Editor video from AWA 2006.

For those of you who have no clue what I am talking about. A brief explanation.

Iron Editor is an event that's done at several anime conventions where 2 (or more) editors go against eachother and have 2 hours to create a completely new AMV. They have a pre-defined list of sources, plus one (or more) secret ingredient(s) that they find out at the start of the event. There is typically a theme associated with the contest that the videos need to adhere to. The editors bring whatever audio they want to prepare ahead of time.

This year at Anime Weekend Atlanta I went up against Hsien Lee (Kusoyaro Productions) in the conclusion of the "Iron Editor Battle Royale" which began at Otakon 2006 when myself and Hsien beat out Mke & Meri (VegettoEX & MeriC) and Brian Moore (SSGWNBTD) to go on to AWA to duke it out amongst eachother.

PHEW! Okay. Now that that is out of the way.

Theme: NO THEME

Sources:
Final Fantasy 8, My Neighbor The Yamadas, Tokyo Mew Mew, Ah My Goddess The Movie, Avatar The Airbender

Secret Ingredients: Ultraviolet & The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

My audio: Several various blips

That's right. I made a blipvert video in 2 hours. This should shed some light on just how simple and mindless they typically are :P Also.. KEEP IN MIND this video was made with the intention of playing to a live audience. There are a few parts that are done with a group audience in mind.

Bits of trivia:
- There are 2 Arrested Development references
- There is 1 Project Genius reference
- There is 1 JAMMING reference
- All 4 photos appearing in the video were taken during the event, after the 2 hour clock had started
- The song and "horns" at 1:05 are a reference to Hsien's AWA 2004 Iron Editor video
- "JT" @ 1:53 is not the character's name.
- There is a typo at 2:19. It was not intentional.
- The entire "anime quote trivia" section should've been timed out better. It goes by way too fast for people to read it all and know what's going on.
- The quote at the very end was the 2nd time I have used this bit of audio. And it's the 2nd year in a row I've featured VicBond in my Iron Editor videos.

Without further ado. THE VIDEO.

................... it sucks.
