Masking, because it takes so damn long and isn't terribly interesting.

All of it?

I suppose to get more specific would be preparing source footage, but unless I'm struck with some random feeling of motivation, the whole process of making it sucks. End result is nice though.

The scripting. I swear it took me four days working a min of three hours each day to get one volume of CCS to deinterlace right and to clean it up. No fun at all...

I don't know the very most least favorite.. but finding scenes is one of the LEAST favorite parts of making AMVs for me when I'm using a bunch of episodes, and making cool effects is hard for me to do, so making effects work in a video is another one.

"crashing"

never happens to me so this isn't one of them.. and I save so often that if it did crash.. I have nothing to worry about.

"Getting my footage ready for editing"

quite easy for me, even when I spend a lot of time cleaning up footage, it's very interesting. Some footage though is really hard to clean up.

"I'd have to say my least favorite part is having to look through every episode to find clips to use.
it gets old fast...especially when you have 50 episodes to look through."

This is probably the most irritating part, finding the scene you want

"ripping DVDs"

This is probably the easiest part for me.

"I hate making clips. Going through VirtualDubMod takes forever, and the plugin I have that supposedly lets me edit AVS clips in Vegas doesn't seem to work. And neither does makeAVIS. :/" Try the new DGIndex with vfapi, and that might get avs to work. That's what I use, I've tried makeAVIS and never got it to work. Plus you could work with multiple anime at once, I had at a time 20 anime working in my timeline using vfapi and you could go beyond that. :)

The editing.

I like ripping and prepping footage. I still work with huffyuvs, so ripping is the same as choosing scenes for me - lots of browsing through anime footage. I like laying the clips on the timeline and ordering the scenes, making the footage tell the story/theme of the video. I love doing lyric sync, both to the meaning and sound of the lyrics.

I don't like timing the footage to the instruments. I dislike doing beat sync. I hate lip sync with a fiery passion and avoid it at all costs. I sometimes enjoy doing/combining/creating effects, but I dislike timing those effects to fit the instruments. If I had my way, I'd plan and make the video, and then send it to an editor to get the technical beatsync and cuts all lined up.

if there are enough things about the hobby that bother you enough to make a list, my advice is that you GTFO
KioAtWork: I'm so bored. I don't have class again for another half hour.
Minion: masturbate into someones desk and giggle about it for the remaining 28 minutes

The technical part of it for me, anyway.

I love matching clips and I love thinking up ideas. Even more so - actually seeing the completed product.

But ripping, filtering, rendering, tweaking, exporting, compressing, blahblahblah - bah to that. Bah.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

The painstaking preparation of the audio. I usually go through and figure out where I want to cut from the audio before I put video down. That can be a real pain.
