Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

At least pat_hulse said something that I could use.

I'm not very good at stfu'ing unless given a GOOD reason to do so. "You suck, noob, and your video is shit. Go away." is not what I would consider an adequate reason.

Point of fact, it makes me more stubborn when someone tries to bully me - especially over the internet, where anyone who happens to dislike you for whatever reason can be insulting and degrading without taking the risk of someone swinging on them.

I may not want sweetness and light from the people critiquing anything I create (in fact, I go out of my way to avoid it), but I do prefer that they insult my WORK, and not me.

And I really hope you don't bear some kind of petty personal grudge against me just because I failed to    and do precisely what you ordered, when you ordered it, and how long you ordered it for. Yes, you've been on the forums awhile, and yes, your videos are decent, but I don't just bend over backwards for newb abuse.

How about you make yourself useful, and insult my video instead of tossing off one-word posts, so I could make my stuff better next time?
OK, since I did give you criticism and told you how to improve, I can tell you to STFU.

STFU!

Why? Because you needlessly trolled to get people's attention and are acting like it's our fault for getting annoyed with that kind of behavior. If you want to counter our annoyances with you, make a better video and don't troll.

It's his writing structure and use of the english language that's disturbing me the most. Excuse me iamfanboy, but do you suffer from a severe inferiority complex? I'm confused as to why you feel the need to show a handful of individuals, whom you have never met, your superb command of the english language. Do not deny your need to reconfigure your own sentence structures in the hope that perhaps some individuals, who's opinions you have so blatantly expressed do not matter to you, might find you of a higher intellectual level. I am also confused as to why you would attack the language level of poor shinodude. It's the internet fucktard. People don't like to sit there, as you have so obviously done, and think out the structure of their sentences to impress a bunch of nobodies. People write what they think, as they think it, and sometimes it doesn't make complete sense.

You've been uselessly trolling throughout this topic, and then you complain about the reactions of others.

I'll tell you what 'fail' means. It means that you have failed to be a useful and productive member of society. Instead of making an ordinary topic, you had to fill it with self-promotion and 'I am so great'. Do not deny this, and tell me that your initial post was sarcasm, because your actions throughout the rest of the thread have only further expressed your pompous and arrogant attitude.

I tire of individuals such as yourself. You are the scourge of the internet.

And because you seem to think that everyone is out to get you, and none of our posts are proper criticism, blah blah blah, i write this just to appease you:

YOU FAIL AT LIFE MOTHERFUCKER.

I'll preface this by saying that I've never seen the AMV that this thread is promoting and probably never will. Not because of the fairly negative responses, although the mention of subtitles is a killer for me and the cheesy wipes and low quality don't help either. I currently have a standing "no Naruto AMV" viewing policy that will probably not be violated anytime soon. The last time I did so was at the beginning of this month, so it's way too soon for me to view another "Naruto First AMV".

I'm sure many people here are amused by the arrogance of your original post. When compared to the "good" Naruto AMVs here, yours doesn't come close based on the comments left about it. To me, your announcement seemed somewhat sardonic and satirical, so I didn't take it at all seriously. Even the editors here that people consider "great" don't announce their new videos this way, even though they can get away with it (for the most part). Naturally, there are people that want to take your enthusiasm down to a more realistic level. Well, if your goal was to create some traffic on this announcement thread, you succeeded.

As for leaving voice clips in videos, it is an "effect" that some editors use to heighten a dramatic moment in a video. It isn't always easy to work into the AMV due to either the type of music being used (i.e. there may not be a good place to insert the voice clip), or the flow/mood of the piece may be inappropriate for it. In this case though, the general rule/restriction is that it is ok to use the Japanese voices, but not the US/English ones. It's primarily due to convention contest rules and the fact that while the anime companies that attend these cons don't seem to mind us using the video in AMVs, using their english dub tracks are a no-no. This is also the only time where it is appropriate to leave or add subtitles since many of us here don't understand the Japanese language well enough (if at all) to know what the charcter(s) are saying. So a subtitle translating the dialog is almost necessary. Of course, in some comedy AMVs and some where there is a comedic bit, the "translation" is not even close to accurate.

Since you are open to suggestions on how to improve, I'd recommend watching some of the videos in the Recommended AMVs forum or the Top 10% Rated Videos to get a better feel of what people here consider a "good" AMV. And reading the guides on the main page. Especially the AMV Theory guides and AbsoluteDestiny & ErMaC's Technical guide (aka. EADFAG).

I never wanted this to compete, or even contend, with some of the fancy-schmancy people you just named - but if you think MY video is lousy, you need to watch some more truthfully bad videos.

Now, maybe a-m-v.org only attracts the cream of the crop and scares away anyone remotely bad (which isn't likely, to judge from the sampling of videos I've already downloaded), but the only REAL flaws in my video is the quality of the source, (arguably) the subtitles, and the wipes... all of which you mentioned, and I conceded.
I feel like a school teacher grading a paper - that's why I'm using red here. First of all, I have been going through a learning process just like you have. While I have been slightly defensive at times in posts, I have not been a complete arrogant ass like you. But at the same time I can understand how you feel, although I would not share your method of dealing with it.

I understand you want honest criticism, and that's exactly what I'm going to give you based on reading almost every single post in this thread, and upon watching your video.

First of all, it started off with a really good concept, I thought I could see where you were going with it. Although I admit your effects were very poorly used, I could still dig the story line and how it correlated with the music. But after you started taking Neji into the fight with Naruto it stopped making sense to me. I couldn't quite follow why you at some times made the scene and the song match up to where it could have been about Naruto instead of Neji. But then you bounced back to Hinata, and the Hyuga family life kinda started to make sense again... Then somehow you just lost me... and I kept thinking how this song could have made a totally badass Naruto or Rock Lee tribute instead. Even Sasuke's life, although his story is already becoming slightly overused it seems... could have made a better video to this song instead of the Hyugas.

Now I think that when you get more clips, and more practice you can make an excellent Hyuga family tribute to this, especially when you get the episodes that go further into Hinata's past because things start getting twisted. So look forward to that ok.

Now along with what everyone else has said, don't be cocky. Be humble. Being humble is truly the best way to get the honest opinions, constructive criticism, encouragement and respect that you are blatantly begging for. It is so very true that you must give the same that you seek in order to find it. I too have learned this the hard way, as no doubt you will for a little longer, before you concede to your humility and show respect to those who have had experience.

So don't take anything to heart, don't let it anger you to the point of giving up on yourself, or lashing out at those who are trying to help you. Without other people to show us our faults how are we to improve? This is the true meaning and structure of AMV, but even further than that, it holds true to life itself, and I hope that you get something good out of that, because it is very difficult for me at this point in time to admit something like that in such a very public way.

In the meantime, learn from your mistakes, learn from your triuphms, and co-exist as peacefully as possible.

Peace, love and oreos.
Sincerely, Celest Eclipse

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot to mention that indeed I have seen many videos that are absolutely hideous compaired to yours, but indeed as even the pros on AMV can still use improvement. And all in all, your video quality was not all that bad, though glitchy in some places. What I think kept this first draft from being a lot better was the poor use of effects, and a little off timing, and lack of good clips to use for the story you tried to tell throught this piece.

I do look forward to seeing more of your work, as I feel that you have a lot of potential.
