To put it bluntly, I'm tired of the complexity that has become the Org and the fun-suckiness it has produced. With all due respect to any mentioned or hinted at editors, I must say what I must say, and that is that we need to get back to basics. The Org is supposed to be a fun place.

Moon211, who's running an MEP, asked me to help my sister with her video, because for some god-given reason it wasn't "right." My reply:

To Moonie211 and anyone else who cares to read:

Be you warned, young one, that I'm not in the brightest of moods when writing to you.

From what I hold to be true, there has be a grieve misunderstanding as to how this mep was supposed to have worked. It's apparent you gave Sailor Earth the idea for it and when she failed to meet your unexplained expectations, you subtly took over her mep thread (which by the way had NOT been locked) by posting a "suggestion" as to how she should do it. On your "official" thread, you say she agreed that you solely would run the contest, but again there was an apparent misunderstanding, for she thought you meant that you would HELP run the contest, not take it entirely as your own. Now be it known that my sister is not the most articulate person in the world, nor is she the best typist, but her pride does bruise easily and your total control of what she started has left her complaining to me for months about it.

She feels she's been locked out of her own project because of little details, that in the end, nobody's going to care about. The latest version of the video she showed me was actually worse rather than better according to whatever suggestions you gave her (or however it is she interpreted them. Either way, there is major communication breakdown somewhere along the lines that one or the other is not communicating/interpreting effectively).

Just take the first video she sent you. It'll be fine, trust me. If people seriously have a problem with it, it will be with her and not you, but you know what? The only people who are going to have a problem with it are people who think they’re some kind of Hollywood producer simply because they have an editor and a few DVDs. This is not a serious business - this is recreation, a way to pass time and to have fun, not a place for regulations. That’s why on my own contest I’ve seriously started cutting down a majority of the rules because they suck the fun right out of these contests.

If nothing else, just take the video she sent you. I liked it, and that’s coming from an over-critical perfectionist. Let’s put an end to all this. It’s just a video.

And to all those who enjoy bashing Sailor Earth:

The sad truth about the written word is that it cannot express the true meaning of human emotion. It is limited merely by the visual letters seen by the eye. But the true meaning of any word is conveyed through tone, inflection, body and eye movement, and a variety of other non-verbal elements. Emoticons can barely touch on what these other things bring to the meaning of words.

What I’ve seen you type to and about my sister has been enough. Whether it has been done as a harmless joke or as a true cruelty, I want it to stop. You insult her intelligence, you make fun of her videos, you present her with videos that are incredibly “Dee-Dee-Dee” to coin the phrase of her so-far only successful MEP, all because of the fact that she’s trying to be non-discriminatory. She doesn’t want to put in place complex rules that make it so hard you can’t even enter. She doesn’t want to say, “No, you can’t send in a video if you use such-and-such editor,” or “No, you can’t use this anime because I don’t like it.” She just wants to provide people with small ideas to come up with general videos – and when she does have a vision, she’s no good at typing it all out.

You’re more than welcome to provide her with honest critical opinions as any video viewer should do, but cut it with the needless bashing. Nobody likes a hater, and unfortunately those who only mean things as harmless jokes can be interpreted as haters because of the complete miscommunication that can come from the written word.

Unfortunately for me, I’m typing to a broad audience which is inclusive of many people who may be innocent and others who may be guilty. I cannot pass judgement upon each individual person, but I can at least bring it to everyone’s attention that they should carefully choose their words before just randomly typing them out. Within this message alone I have stopped myself several times in order to find better wording in perhaps a not-so-passionate tone.

So, old long-winded Niji Tsuki is finally winding down on this message. I hope everyone realizes I’ve taken the great risk of losing face with many editors, but I’ve said what need to be said. The fact remains that Anime Music Videos.Org was created as a place to showcase videos that were made for fun, to show one’s creativity, a place where anime fans could get together and have a good time. Let’s make it that way, shall we?

and the mep requirements are:

Videos should be of high of quality as possible and should not have subs or logos.
Filetype should be .avi
The resolution should be 640 x 480 29.97fps and should not have any Interlacing. They should be progressive and should be compressed in Xvid or Divx at high quality.
Videos link should be submitted in a pm and hosted somewhere like megaupload.

I actually would like to see her in the mep but i don't think it would be good to use that video though.

If you are, and you are offended by my op in it, you realize that a simple PM, or reply to the op would have resulted in my either changing it or removing it, right?

If you are talking about something else sorry. Post a link to the problem otherwise you're just typing letters to the void to vent your frustration.

I didn't see any flaming, but I did see Moonie being helpful and essentially demanding that the videos submitted to the MEP fall within guidelines.
(EG: 640x480 = acceptable 360x120= not)

I suppose that if it's Sailor Earths MEP she can do whatever she wants with it, ala dogix. But I fail to see what you're hoping to accomplish here? If it's to reduce overall site flamage, and invasion of 4chan images (although I'm guilty too) then I'd say sure great idea. Point the mods and hit the attack button.

I skimmed through it, and it seems the problem is that she is using very poor quality footage. I don't see a personal attack on her, at all. Is there more going on outside the MEP thread? Because other wise, this is just holding to the standards of quality. We don't need more mods to stomp out flames that don't exist. A few more mods paying more attention than just the obvious spam might be kinda nice at times, but other than that, there is no lack-of-modding problem on the site. Moonie is demanding a quality video, not some low quality piece of crap. I refuse to either. If she wants to put together a MEP of sailor earth videos, then go for it. Oh, wait, she did. And nobody was interested in a project that has no demands. Nothing except to be put under the title of MEP, and with so little effort dedicated to it, I highly doubt it would have made the final stage of a MEP. There's no need to kill a quality oriented MEP with a resized small to large video. This is not a 'flame' that she can't run a MEP. Nobodies interested. Life doesn't always work out how you like. Suck it up.

I haven't followed her latest MEP so I'm missing out on any of the drama in it you're obviously refering to. However towards the end there's a comment that's most likely about Dedicated to Sailor Earth MEP so I want to clarify something. That MEP was *NOT* about Sailor Earth and it was never meant to be. The title was solely because her MEP thread is what gave me the idea of a craptacular mep to begin with, it's an acknowledgement of the idea source and nothing more. I stated in my original MEP post that I would change the title if anyone had an issue with it and I also PMed Sailor Earth asking if she wanted me to change it. I gave her the chance to have her name removed from it because I realized some people would find it insulting even if it wasn't meant that way. She didn't take me up on the offer. If she was insulted by my MEP then, well I was going to say sorry but I honestly don't care either way so why issue a fake apology? Perhaps it'd be more honest to say don't read more into it than was there.

Not that it matters but just for the record, if I had realized she was actually going to do something with the segments given her I wouldn't have started my MEP. I don't particularly like the idea of two projects that look very very similar to each other coming out close together. As it was, by time I realized she actually did put out a MEP the best I could do is make sure no segments were duplicated betweens hers and mine.

And final note, to Madbunny: She's not a collab on DTSEM. I doubt she knew you did an op much less what it says. And just for future reference, the only person who can reply to ops for a MEP is the person who actually entered the video into the database.

i scaned through the mep thread and all i could see is people actually trying to help her get better quality...

i see nothing wrong with a mep director having some quality controll... and Moonie211 never said he wanted to cut her from the project :/

plus it was his idea in the first place, so its not like hes stealing her idea... it just appears that her thread went nowhere, and he wanted to see it made :/
