The op score to me is not really the relevant part of the Opinion system. The only thing it should really do is to give an 'at a glance' of what the viewer thought about it.

So, when I give ops, I try to leave information that I think is informative, and ideally helpful in some way. When I get them, the better ones do the same for me. The scores, for most of my videos are usually low enough (especially in the review) that it's not like I'll ever see the top 10% legitimately. As has been shown, the top percent vids list is pretty easy to manipulate anyway. Not just flagrant firestarters like Godix, but also by people pimping out various naruto videos to their friends.

What brought this on anyway?

It is vitally important to give yourself all 10 ops. If you can talk around 50 other people into doing so as well then you can break into the top 10 videos of the top 10%. Once that happens you get to be one of the cool in-crowd. It comes with it's own plaque, membership card, and if the performance of the editors who made the top videos is any indication a mandatory forced retirement from making videos. I was rather suprised when I got my prizes in the mail. Especially the forced retirement one, I didn't realize they used a baseball bat on your editing hand to enforce it. No wonder we don't see AD around anymore.

I'll give myself all 10s on all of my videos because I can and the opinion system sucks anyways. :P

But I'm too lazy.

I did that once because I'd gotten two all ones and twos reviews because the viewer was offended by the content and didn't read the warning. I did it to even the scores that people were seeing so that they wouldn't be scared off of watching my video and then when more normal opinions came in I adjusted mine down..

But that was a few years ago and I doubt that I'd do it again.

Well, to be on topic for once, I just don't think I would ever op my own video at all, much less give it all 10's. The point of ops are to get feedback from other people. I already know what I think I did wrong and right, so I don't see the point in writing it all down.

the only point i could see in oping yourself is to point out to others that wont read video descriptions, but will read the ops given, what you do already know about your video...

i dont personally op myself, on my own videos cause i already know what i think about my videos and i write it down in the video description, if someone happens to point it out again, i usually just ignore it or pass it off as "yea i already know that what of it?"

but as far as giving yourself all 10s, other ops will eventually come along and put those 10s in their place and if they dont, its not like anyone can see the scores of 1 op (you have to have atleast 3 to make it appear on the profile)... unless you make it public... and seriously if people are going to go that far just to read the op, they can easily read that it was left by the creator of the amv and therefore generally becomes a pointless op by default (unless it has actuall scores and actual thoughts :P heh)
~~~~~~~~~~
but as a general note:
1. i expect all videos to suck, unless they are by a creator i know to be not-suck... or awesome.
2. i rarely look at scores as a means of judging weather or not im going to download something neither do i look at star scale or the top 10% list...
i usually choose vids based on:
1. anime/song combo
2. weather or not it looks interesting (i love dling vids to animes i havent seen or songs i havent heard.. i love experiencing new things..)
3. if a friend pimped it to me
4. did a friend make it?
5. am i really that bored?
and whatever my mood dictates....
i dont care what other peoples scores are, and if someone really wants to leave all 10s on their own video, its their problem not mine... but im probably not going to put much weight into an opinion of their own video.
I had someone give me an all 10 op with my own account when I wasn't looking (firefox automatically logged on), and I don't really want to change it.
I give all 10s and all 1s for some of my own vids
so I'm half pathetic?
well, cornwiggle, you did give all 10's for DTSEM, right? You were in on the editing for the video, so doesn't it count?
