How often does the site check DIRECT links to see if they're up and running?
Well, I's just wonderin' if maybe it'd be possible and prudent to discolor DIRECT links (make 'em gray or something) that have failed the check recently. It'd just make it more convenient when searching, so you don't check a video to find that it's not available. And I imagine if you can make that distinction, you can have the Search filter out DIRECT links that failed, as well.
Just a thought.

Decent idea. It would definately make the situation more obvious. Only problem I could see is if a small server hiccup caused someone's server to be down when it was being checked and now noone is willing to try that link once it's greyed out.

Looks like the direct link checker stopped working, or runs only once every five to six months.
I found quite a few failed Direct links just now. The last check registered for them was in January. That means they could have been offline for months and I never would have known if a girl off my own website hadn't told me.
People here can leave error messages for broken Indirect links. Can they do the same for direct links, even if the site says they're not broken?
Just curious.

January? Wow. I thought these checks were running weekly, at least. But I s'pose there's lots of videos to check. How much action does it take for the Org servers to ping all those ones through DIRECT links? Or is that even how it's done? I guess I'm just curious, because I can't see the programmers going through that much trouble for a small convenience.
