How old is your rig?

Laptop, Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, about two years old.
2.5 GHz Celeron
1GB RAM
30 GB internal HD, 500GB external
I have absolutely no idea what the graphics card is, but I doubt it matters.
Rendering and encoding aren't that fast, but it edits and previews smoothly enough, and leaving VDM on 'Idle' during encoding means it isn't locked up for hours at a time.

I recently upgraded:
Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ overclocked to about 4000+
2 gigs of Corsair ValueSelect (ONLY THE FINEST BABY)
An EpoX nForce 4 mobo with 2000ghz Hyper Transfer or whatever its called
440 gigs of HD space.
The Dual Core REALLY makes a sexy difference in Premiere Pro. I can export and browse the net at the same time and when an aim window pops up it doesnt cause the holocaust. It helps Premiere 6.5 a bit but not nearly as much I imagine because 6.5 wasn't designed with Dual Cores in mind. It still crashes up a shit storm but it IS faster.

Seriously, you should call your computer 'Snow White' with all those drives.

Lots of partitions to help organize my mess. Funny how the forum changed ( C : ) into a smily face.

...how did you manage 2.4GHz with corsiar value select?Beowulf wrote:I recently upgraded:

highest I could get was 2.25GHz without causing my system to hang (ddr400 at 2.5-3-3-8)
...of course I didn't try to loosen the timings...yet
