Oh yeah...the vid in my sig has been stolen...a couple of times, in fact. The one that *really* torked me off was the one that chopped off my credits and stripped the music...then added a completely different song and tried to pass it off as their own. Though I guess I'm not the only one this has happened to...
And yeah...I contacted the person, the site, flagged the vid, and a few friends all did the same. All to no avail. To my knowledge the rip off has yet to be taken down.
Oh...and if you'd like to hear even more horror stories...check out this thread: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/v ... hp?t=69925

Especially when anime ruins the aesthetic enough as it is.Kionon wrote:This has been discussed elsewhere in detail. The general consensus is that watermarks ruin the aestetic of the video, which is really important.Kobe101 wrote:a very easy way to solve this is to leave a huge water-mark in the video.

Victim's of what? If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then outright stealing someone's work and claiming it as ones own is nothing short of PHWOARRR!!!!!!. Wish someone would steal my vid's.JaddziaDax wrote:youre preaching to the choir... most of us have been "victims" of this... most people are just wanting to share a vid they like, though your situation is ovbiously someone trying to actually steal your work...

Yeah, I'd guess that the people in the music and anime industries think that, too. Slightly different target, though.KittyNeko wrote:I guess there is not much I can do about it. It still riles me up to think people can do this!

i must admit, i dont really see the point of getting upset. It the order of things.
1. You buy Anime.
2. You rip Anime to HDD
3. You edit the Anime
4. You upload the "AMV" calling it yours.
5. Someone like your AMV and takes it.
6. They modify it slightly and post it as thier own.
You broke the law at point 3. and so they are stealing something you stole.
see where the problem arises? Its not yours to call it yours in the first place.

Ah, not quite. More like 4. And you can possibly argue if you're suave enough that it's actually the org that's distributing the video and not you, so even that's questionable...PyscoPill wrote:i must admit, i dont really see the point of getting upset. It the order of things.
