Tsukihime - Lovers End

Post by Valion » Tue Jul 11, 2006 11:01 pm

Presenting my second video! I used this video as a learning experience, working with the basic features of Premiere Pro. There are very few digital effects present. Instead, I focused primarily on things like rate control, color control, opacity, and general keyframing. My intention was to make any effects or processing used look like it was part of the original video rather than an intention modification.

Similar to my first video, I stumbled on a show and song I liked purely by accident within a week of each other, liked both, and finally built up the motivation to stop being lazy and make a video. I didn't plan on the video being any specific genre (horror, action, drama, whatever). My favorite videos so far are all my favorites simply because I feel that they fit well with the song, regardless of any other classifications placed on them, so that's what I aspire to match.

This video is significantly different from my first one, being primarily a drama video. I created this one using a significantly longer song over a period of about a month, without any particular deadline, whereas my first video was a rushjob. Naturally, a whole lot of edited footage ended up in the trash. I'm tempted to work Tsukihime in to another video just to give some time to the characters I had to cut from this one.

I tried to retain as much video quality as possible. There are two versions available, one Mastroska / H.264 / Vorbis version for people with the necessary codecs, and one AVI / XviD / MP3 for compatibility sake.

Oh my god! I was hoping to be the first person to put a Birthday Massacre AMV on the org (a little while in the future, heh...), but you win! And to Tsukihime! Gotta download this.

Holy crap. That was amazing!

Comments:

Good: Overall visual quality was stunning (h264); really captured the animation. Also very well-synched with the music's mood, as well as the dark tone of Tsukihime itself.

Meh: Only three things. One, the music suddenly gains volume right at the beginning. Two, the second "'til twilight falls" looks kinda awkward at that speed because of her hair... though perhaps the speed of the petals just wasn't what it should be at normal speed? Three, the transition into the next song was left at the end... just sounds kinda weird suddenly dropping out.

Overall, that was amazing. Wonderful job bringing TBM to a-m-v.org! =^-^=

Totally awesome man, about time you uploaded it. This is the first Tsukihime video that the audio suited the footage. Alot of people try to dress up the romance but they often cut out the surreal and maniacal nature of the characters in the process. You preserved those qualities and really made them shine. Great work!

Now keep up the pace of putting out vids! :P

VNS FTW!

Ok, the fact that you have a mp4 version shows that you're good into the game. I'll certainly take a look at it and will leave some comments later.

/me dls.

Ok, it was mkv not mp4 but whatever. The combo worked quite good for me, it's a slow paced song and the editing fits overall, a few more effects to emphasize the spooky atmosphere would have been nice but it also works without'em. Reminds me I still have to watch the anime, at this point I can't say much about the sourcecombo, but at least it seems to fit typewise. Not a bad video :).

Hehehe....

This is one of the better Tsukihime videos I've seen in quite sometime, and it's pretty much the one video that caught my interest throughout this week. Definetely going to keep this one! 8-)

Released exactly 24 hours after I've completed watching the series in one go? *gets* :P
