link to video (problem)

I was trying to provide a url link (from my file host upload site) to my video, but it said that it couldn't access it, or something.

This was written in step 4-Links

ERROR: Link is not valid: 404 - Not Found

Common Problems:
* Protocal required: http://, https://, ftp://
* No closing / at the end of a directory:
http://www.site.com/video/directory should be http://www.site.com/video/directory/
* You just typed the name in wrong.

I don't know what my codec is, or the bitrate, but it's a wmv and 105 meg.

Could someone tell what I'm doing wrong? It's not actually a website, but a file upload site.

How long is the video? Unless it's 10 minutes long, the vid shouldn't be over 100 mbs. Try compressing it again with a lower setting (or cutting out the credits if that's what makes it so long). I'm assuming the reason you don't want to host the video here is because of the file size. There should be a way to reduce that considerably. What program are you using, how long is the video, and what's the resolution (screen size - 640x480, 320x240, etc)?

As for the site being rejected. What's the site you're trying to link to? Type exactly what url you're putting into the link page. There may be something wrong with how you typed it, or you might be trying to link to a site that isn't allowed here.

and here is a promo that I would also like to have hosted on a-m-v.org. But, I would still run inot that linking problem. Not sure about the screen size but it should fill up most of the screen.

some sites like youtube have protection on the links that they give you, which makes them unusable on this site.

Other sites such as yousendit only store your file for a limited ammount of time (so the link would be pretty useless)

is there any reason why you can't upload it to the local server (other than the size)?
if not, try reading the section in EADFAG (in the guides section of the site) about compressing to divx-compatible xvid.
and you whould also remember to compess your audio (this alone can cut 20-30MB off of your filesize)

as for your preview...you can upload it yourself, just click on the upload video button in your members main page (after you complete the video info. I should mention that you don't need to fill out any information in the links section of the video info)
If you don't have...or don;t know if you have an ftp client, filezilla is free, and you can get it by clicking on the pic in my sig
