Older bands/artists in the spotlight again?

Post by RamonesFan2020204 » Sat Jun 17, 2006 11:13 pm

I've been thinking about how older artists like Donald Fagen and Cheap Trick, who have released new albums this year, and could they be in the spotlight again? The lead single from Fagen's "Morph The Cat" album called "H Gang" is the #3 most played song of his on last.fm, and I heard that alot of tracks from Cheap Trick's latest album "Rockford" have made the weekly top charts on last.fm. Also this year, Poison released a new "Best of" collection to celebrate their 20th anniversary featuring a brand new cover of Grand Funk Railroad's hit "We're An American Band" which has been getting quite a bit of publicity. They even made a video for it (I've seen it. It has sort of a "Then And Now" theme). Could older artists be back in the spotlight (where they belong)?

In a time where people lack general creativity and push regurgitated garbage through the money machine, I wouldn't doubt it.

Take this book, slap a different cover on it, label it new and improved (side note: how the fuck did they improve a non-existant product?), cellophane it up and feed it to the fucknobs who're too stupid to know better! That's current corprate america for ya!

Doing something new makes the profit margin just a little less black.

Actually, Nailz has it right. Most of the time, people buy the same old shit over and over again. That's why we have so many sequels in games, and not enough new ideas. Same with music. Almost everything that's popular sounds the same to me.
