SECOND TO LAST EPISODE!!! :o
Kotomine came and turned Rin into a bloody pulp (though I was a little turned on during that scene  ). He then kidnapped Ilya in order to summon the Holy Grail (that scene suspiciously look like something from End of Eva).
Now comes the final battle....
...while the rematch between Saber and Gilgamesh was pretty good, I was a bit dissapointed that there was a lengthy monolouge Kotomine said to Shirou. Obviously this lead to another evil cliffhanger! :x
I'm getting a feeling we're getting an ending similar to Tsukihime, and that's....
...a bittersweet farewell from Saber.

Dammit! Dammit dammit!

I knew I should have just waited till the last ep was released.

That speech from Gilgamesh was really kind of disturbing actually. Sounded like he was describing rape via metaphor. Bastards like that automatically piss me off.

I find the whole characterization of Gilgamesh to interesting in this particular series. In the original myth he started out as a selfish bastard but ended up actually learning a lesson after everything he went through. It just strikes me as odd that he behaves this way given the myth he was based on.

Well, maybe he's based on the younger versions of the myth. Like when he slew the bull of the gods. Either way, his character pisses me off.

1) too powerful, requiring some Deux Ex Machina, or DBZ style power up to beat him.
2) an exception to the stated rules of the show. (he's from the last holy way, and lost.)
3) gets to break the rules and have his 'own' servant.
4) looks like a punk kid in silly armor
5) describes raping one of the characters that I like via metaphor.

He has to be powerful, a weak challenge is not a worthy challenge. As far as the power up goes, it's the visualization of determination and for this purpose it makes sense. If you try your hardest, you'll be able to change yourself and become stronger, that's basically it.

Saber/Shirou is going to beat him in the end anyway.

I thought that metaphoric rape and the doujin dreams my dirty mind was having didn't hurt in the slightest...

However, it's quite obvious that not only is Gilgamesh going to get his ass handed to him [Saber has the 'complete' excalibur now buddy! ^_^] BUT I'm sure that Shirou will be the one to get her pregnant...

Then again, it'll most likely end up like Tsukihime in my prediction as well.

Shall there be an Ataraxia follow up?! OH SAY IT IS SO!!!

Also, it should be noted that Arthur had Bedeviere return Excalibur to the Lady of the Lake (AKA Watery Tart) when Arthur was on his deathbed. So that scene is Arthur dying. I guess Saber came to terms with what happened in her life, and decided that she really didn't need to do it all over again.

Clearly Studio DEEN dumped their budget on this final episode; the battles were awesomely dynamic. Even when they got to the epilouge, the little moments and backgrounds were done really well.
Fuji-nee and Ilya definetely became comedy duo in the end. I can't wait to see those omake specials (assuming Geneon is going to release them).

And I probably said it once, and I'll say it again. Saber looks REALLY cute with her hair down.

It's a bittersweet farewell as I predicted; I basically got the same feeling when Tsukihime ended, but Fate/stay night made a bit more hopeful. Execution-wise was really good so the ending didn't seemed to contrived.
Overall in my opinion, this was an awesome series and automatically became my Top 10 favorite. Though I do take note that there were a few hiccups along the way (though according to the original gamers, rather big ones ). Especially when we got some of the side-characters' backstory and having that rushed and/or unexplained. And there few animation spots where they're obviously reused scenes, or instances where character designs were off-modeled. But I'm pretty forgiving. :D

If Geneon plays their cards right, they could make Fate/stay night a "gateway" series for peeps who like your usual shounen action series to get into the realm of cutesy bishoujo series (like you know, air it on Adult Swim). Now we wait for the English DVD release. I wonder if whoever dubs this will give Saber a cute British accent.

she better have a brit voice... that'd make her uber sexy...

Anyways, regards to the ending. I don't hate it as much as Tsukihime, but I can say I can turn my back on this series and just admit, it wasn't THAT good, but it's not Eva/dbz trash either...

This is one of the RARE tragic endings I too would forgive...
