Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I Just Blue My Orchid!

Post by Tsunami Jones » Fri Jun 02, 2006 6:15 pm

Video: Millenium Actress

Audio: Blue Orchid by the White Stripes

Unlike my last few videos, this one isn't silly :o (despite the title >_>)
Video description wrote: Originally, I had something in mind when making this video. However, part way through I realized that it wasn't quite turning out into what I was expecting it to be. At first, I was trying to make it look like the artist in Millenium Actress essentially stole Chiyoko's heart out of spite, allowing her to love no one but him for as long as she lived.

I *think* that the way the video ended up is that Chiyoko is looking back on her life, realizing that she wasted it by focusing on something that was ultimately unattainable.

I ended up cutting the song rather short, simply because there really isn't much footage of the artist in the movie, and I didn't want to have Chiyoko continuing to run for another minute; she does it enough already as it is
Anyway, hopefully this is still enjoyable even if you haven't seen Millenium Actress. :)

Dude, and you expect people to take videos seriously with titles like that?

Man, that was awesome. It really felt offbeat, but in a good way; I'd say that "panicky" approach and the unsteady visuals were a great cue to the character side of the video. That + some readily-apparent symbolism = it made a lot of sense and left an impression from the first viewing despite the fact I've never seen the source.

Let's just say it took me by surprise.

Great work!
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Thanks! And sure, I expect people to take videos seriously with silly titles . . . gettting them to actually watch the video in the first place might be a challenge :P

I'm glad that for you not seeing the source the video still made some sense and still had meaning :)
