Deep blue world - scrapped princess

Post by chambeyc » Mon May 22, 2006 4:22 pm

Hi there,

Here is my latest one:
Image
Title: Deep Blue
Music from Kai tracid - Tierenrausch
Anime: scrapped princess

I've tried an original mix of anime/music, and the storyline is very similar to the end of the serie (warning, spoilers there). Though the vid shows i still need to improve myself in some points, some feedbacks will help ;)

Note: i noticed the mp4 version is quite hard to read on "old" PCs. If you feel like the framerate is down, please go in the output options of your Media player, and select Overlay Mixer (save a bit of CPU). Or use the xvid version ;)

Oh good, a decently-made Scrapped Princess video. There are far too few of these.

First, my nitpicks. You could probably have done just fine without the text. It's a bit distracting and does disrupt the flow somewhat. Second, you're right in that the flow is rather linear from the series. This is a bit problematic, since given the structure of the video it probably wouldn't make sense to anyone who hasn't seen Scrapped Princess. The story is best described as "loose", since without reading the notes it's very difficult to tell where it starts.

That said, I like this video. It captures the feel of Scrapped Princess nicely, and your synch is good. Most of your effects are well used, although I question the tunnel-thingie and subsequent things on the sides. You really capitalized on the circuit-trace magic stuff.

Not bad work. 3/5.

Interesting, a Dance video that actually tells a story. I like it.

I will probably have to comment in detail when I can actually think streight, but My comments would probably be along the lines of kalium. Although I thought The text helps to peice together the story for people who havn;t seen the series, but also may serves as a double edge sword for those who have. To me though, the existance of the text made it feel a bit more like a MAD, so since this was like a dance video, it didn't bother me much.

nice video

Oops  . Well, my level in German has always been quite bad you know ^^" . Thanks for the op ;)

@Kalium & Bakadeshi: indeed, inserting texts was risky, as people who have seen the serie may found them distracting and unnecessary. In fact they were added to help viewers who've never seen the serie, but also for a 2nd reason: the calm parts need something that would keep viewer's attention. So i thought to give the vid a more narrative side. But I think i should have chosen more explicit cuts and forgot about the texts after all.

Glad you like it though. Thanks to both of you.

While I haven't seen Scarpped Princess, I was able to enjoy this video nonetheless. While distracting at points, the text did help to enhance the story behind the video, so it did end up serving a purpose. Overall, it was well-edited and had a solid cohesion to it. Nice one.

Ok, I actually didn't really like it. Normally dance amvs are kind of overloaded with nice trippy effects (it's almost a trademark) so I found it rather weak in this category. It just doesn't really look like a dance video altough it is. The storyline was simple but actually I wasn't really dragged into it since I know the anime and like it, so that was not very effective on me even after reading the comments. But still I think I'll watch it a few more times since it's one if not the only decent Scrapped Princess amv I've ever seen. ;)

@Icycloud: Thank you ^^. It's good to see that someone who has not seen the serie found the story comprehensible ^^.

@Warheart: I agree concerning the effects, but well, i'm still quite a noob concerning using them correctly  . That's why i focused more on the narrative side, though with this kind of music this was quite difficult ^^"...
And i vote for more Scrapped Princess amv too ;). Thx for your com!

@Imrallion: Hi Dude ^^. I can't compare with your cosette vid you know
