Thanks! I'm glad it's at least of some appeal to people who aren't big on this series, I won't deny it was aimed at Berserk fans primarily, but it's good to hear the combo works as just an AMV :)
Minion wrote:awsome video, but the ending would leave people who didn't see berserk going "wtf?"
(though the normal ending was wtf anyways unless you read the manga instead)
Indeed, but then those who have seen Berserk probably had that "wtf?" when it got to ep. 23-25, so it's not like that's inaccurate to the series.

Again, I think the video's main push is at those who are familiar with the series. I'm surprised so many people (especially some of those into metal) haven't seen this - for those with any interest in this kind of stuff, it's a must-see, and it's not that new...
supersayian313 wrote:wow that was impressive. the quality was flawless and the music and sync flowed nicely. i really liked the creepy ending.
Thank you. Glad the quality worked out... it's actually the first video where I made any effort at filtering
Beowulf wrote:This video rocks! It was a rocking good time, with a traditional ending done very well. Videos with this concept are a dime a dozen, but this one was made with such care and taste that it not only pulls through but pulls YOU through.

I suspected you might like this, with the old-schoolness and all! I think it's the only type of actual action video that I can stomach working on right now, but if it works - great. Thanks Beo.
Moonlight Soldier wrote:Cool stuff...and with a song that doesn't rape my ears to boot :O
Haha, I recall you liked the original King Crimson song, sorry I couldn't use it for a video like this - it needs something softer and more... fairy-ish, I think. I still think someone could make a good AMV to that, it'd be a great contrast to this version in fact.

...don't expect the lack of aural rapeage to last, though xD

x2

I thought your sync was strange though. I especially mean the passage when you synced the rhythm guitar instead of the drums. I would have prefered if you had used dissolves instead of cuts in a lot of passages. The song is to be concidered as a meatl-ballad. I think the cuts were too hard and abrupt for it.
In part that's Flint's fault, actually :P

Well, we basically sat around and discussed this section for a bit; in my original beta I focused more on internal sync and the solo, but it was agreed that it didn't work as well since it looked a little lazy.

This, I assure you, is an exception in my editing - I use fades religiously, but they just didn't have, well... the violence or the punch needed for the pacing, I think. I hardly ever use cuts like this otherwise.

I personally don't like synching to the drums, that is the primary rhythm, I find it a little too regular for my taste. I usually synch to either (additional) percussion, or main melody (solo), or harmony (chords). But talking this over with Flint, I more or less realized that the riff was the dominant thing here (at least in my and most other people's view, it seems) - perhaps by virtue of it's sheer kick-assness :D
Unlike the main rhythm, it's also more interesting and irregular (and harder to work with, but eh, a challenge...)

And if you're referring to the verses, likewise, the guitar passages stuck out at me more than drums.

Anyway, that's too defensive of me

Thanks for the feedback!
Warheart wrote: Btw. where did you cut the audio, the albumversion is 6:00 and without searching for my CD I can't tell, so I guess you made it quite good (it just seems that you cut something at the beginning).
Premiere, actually. I have access to audio editing software, but I actually got a good handle on just cutting things smoothly in Premiere by using the volume rubberbands lately (I don't even look at the waveforms). There's quite a few cuts there; I cut off the intro, cut off an extra "aaah" section from each chorus, and took out the final verse and went straight to the finale. Thankfully, the song was nicely structured so the transitions went well.
Glad you noticed it!

Thanks all , again!

Which is the stuff I enjoy immensely, but it's nice to see that you can branch out [successfully].

Thanks both of you.

Slightly off-topic, but since this video is in the Cold War contest... an announcement

One of the editors participating in it, going by the handle of Urd in the Russian AMV community, has suddenly passed away - barely two days after making her submission, I believe her first foray into contests. She was still a fairly new editor, but was improving well and showing great promise.

My condolences to Alina's family and the many friends he had in the Russian AMV community. I hope the contest continues running in good spirit and in respect of her memory, and I would like to dedicate this video to the cause as well.

A heart failure from being overstressed and a defect, I think. I accidently closed the AIM window right after Oto mentioned it. :? :(

According to information from her brother and friends...

She indeed suffered from a heart defect, but worked hard on her job lately, in part because she was saving for a trip to the west of Russia during her vacation. Her intention was, among other things, to stop by and visit a number of AMVing friends from across the country. She collapsed while at work and died of heart failure before help could arrive. Her vacation was due to start in about two weeks...

I hardly knew anything of her or her work, of course, but I think something like this happening to a fellow AMVer in the community ought to make us all think
