Anime Mid-Atlantic 2006 AMV Contest (May 27th Deadline)
It's that time again!
This year's Anime Mid-Atlantic AMV contest is going to be WAY bigger then ever before!
No hotel in the area could handle us, so we are now going to see how the contest works in The Greater Richmond Convention Center! 0_0;;
This year we are going to attempt to outdo the amazing contest we put in front of the fans last year, but we need plenty of high quality submissions before we can hope to do that, SO GET THEM IN!!!!
We have made a few small adjustments to the rules, so please be sure to check them over thoroughly before you submit.
The main things to note are:
The Categories:
-Drama
-Romance
-Action
-Comedy
The Deadline:
Saturday, May 27th 2006
Submission Format:
- 720 x 480 resolution
- 29.97 frames per second OR 23.976 frames per second with 3:2 pulldown
- Non-Interlaced video (Progressive)
- 48000 Hz audio
Video:
- MPEG 1 or 2
- HuffYUV avi
- Uncompressed avi
- Divx avi
- Xvid avi
Audio:
- Uncompressed wav (PCM)
- Dolby ac3
- MPEG audio (mp3, mp2, etc.)
That should be enough to get you started, however be sure to read over the full rules at http://www.animemidatlantic.com/amv.html before you submit your videos.
You have 2 choices for getting your submissions to us this year.
1st choice:
FTP
Server: AnimeMidAtlantic.serveftp.com
Port: 21
Username: upload
Password: amaamv
2nd choice:
Snail Mail
Anime Mid-Atlantic AMV Contest
614 Shawn Court
Highland Springs, VA 23075
Again, PLEASE read over the full rules before sending anything in since there are a few important notes there that would just take up too much space if I repeated them all here.
I am really really looking forward to seeing what you can all come up with this year, and hope that you are all equally looking forward to submitting some great videos and seeing some real talent on our new MASSIVE video screen in our new MASSIVE main events room!
If you have any questions or comments about the contest, you can email us at AnimeMidAtlanticAMV@gmail.com. or view my profile for IM information, OR post to this very thread as we will be cheking it regularly.
Best of luck!!!!

I will exlain the following rule.
"Prizes will be presented during closing ceremonies on Sunday. If the contestant is not attending the convention, he/she is responsible for arranging for receipt of their prize at their own expense however, plaques and certificates will be mailed out after the convention courtesy of Anime Mid-Atlantic. All prizes not claimed by June 30, 2006 will become property of the convention."
If you are not attending and you have won a prize you may do the following.
- Contact us and arrange to have yourself or a friend pick it up for you.
- Contact us and arrange to have the item shipped to you
- Forgo your prize in exchange for free pre-registration to
Anime Mid-Atlantic 2006
- Donate your prize to the Make-A-Wish Foundation
- STOP BY THE CONVENTION! We would love the chance to present your
prize to you in front of your adoring fans!
We will contact you if you have won a catagory. If you do not make arrangements for your prize by the end of June. The prize will become property of the convention. Making arrangments isnt hard we are super easy to get in touch with and answer emails usually within a matter of hours.

AMV contests are more than just the prizes. Would that certain people realize that already.... (sadly, he still hasn't learned...)BasharOfTheAges wrote:Well, I was looking forward to submitting something, but i'm not so sure now given the spicific rules you cite on the site that are not here.

I dont know if thats the specific rule that he was referring to but I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary otherwise. But then most other AMV contests dont do prizes as well as plaques ETC they just do the trophys and plaques. Which we will mail... So I dont know really I'm sure he will respond as to what rule he was referring to. The prize thing is more of a side note than a direct response because that is something that has changed since last year.

I don't care about winning anything. I can't submit because it says nothing that has won an award at another con can be submitted. I ended up winning something at a small, first year con, so i'm SOL.
