I haven't heard of any AMV contest that costs money to enter (except to yourself of course, buying the editing program, dvds, etc. ha ha). That's sure to be listed in the rules.
Also, age restrictions will be listed, if there are any. The only restrictions on age that I've seen before were for the AMV contest at Yaoi-con. As an editor, you can be any age, but you can't get into the convention unless you're 18.

"Dunno, I was probably asleep when you said it."

JACON requires that you purchase a membership to the convention, whether or not you're actually attending, in order to enter. Whether other cons do that is beyond me.BunofGovt wrote:I haven't heard of any AMV contest that costs money to enter (except to yourself of course, buying the editing program, dvds, etc. ha ha). Well, I can't speak for most cons, but I do know that at Anime Nebraskon last year, if you entered more than 2 videos, you had to pay $5 (which got you unlimited entries). Also, if you weren't going to register for the con, you had to pay $5 (regardless of how many vids you entered). But all of that was clearly written out in the rules...so that's where I'd check if you're concerned about entry fees.

The new NDK rules will be psoted in a week or two when the new website goes online.

Anime Mid-Atlantic allows 2 entries per person. There is NO cost and NO requirement to register. We WILL ship plaques and certs to winners free of charge. However we require that you cover your shipping charges or arrange for pickup if your not attending the convention and would like to recieve your merchandise prizes (usually pretty big). (The reason for this is last year it costs us almost $200 just to SHIP a prize to france in addition to the inital costs of buying the trophys and merchandise of course) circumstances like this prevent us from being able to provide shipping at furture conventions.

Anime North has never charged entry fees or delivery fees. The awards (with con t-shirt padding) fit nicely into one of Canada Post's 5"x5" shipping boxes that we've mailed to places like Finland and Australia for relatively little cost. Then again, the con has a decent enough budget that they can cover the expense. For smaller cons I can understand the need for fees.
