Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Why don't you just upload locally instead of linking to YouTube which pretty much butchers quality in videos?
And to answer your question, it's being shown as "indirect" because it links to another webpage, not the file itself (which of course you can't since it's in YouTube)... and if I recall correctly, setting it as indirect is something which *you* yourself chose... yeah... link it to http://jijin.mine.nu/serial-experiment-madworld.wmv rather than the index page.
To the video itself... quite like that version of the song... I guess Lain naturally lends it melancholic atmosphere to it rather well... good editing generally, can't comment too much on video and/or audio quality since it's YouTube version which I watched. Major gripe I have with it would be the use of the video sections with credits on them... next time, either use creditless versions of these segments or just avoid them completely... it's sort of as distracting as subtitles would have been... 7/10

No you didn't... well, not org local anyway... *sigh*jijin|machina wrote:I did... in the FTP of the same filenameInfinity Squared wrote:Why don't you just upload locally instead of linking to youtub which pretty much butchers quality in videos?
I'll explain to you again what you've done...
Your first link in the list points to the index page of your website. For one thing that qualifies as an indirect link for clicking on the word "indirect" in that table sends you to another webpage, not the file itself (which is the thing that would qualify it as a "Direct" link). Also, I am fairly you yourself would have had to specify that it was "indirect"
The second link however is even worse now (it was bad before when you linked it to Google)... it's still indirect, even moreso because now it doesn't even link to the index page of where your video is, but instead to your blogspot or something... *sigh*
None of your links point to a "Direct" download of your video. And certainly none of them are the result of you uploading it locally on the org... To get "Local" download like many people around here you'll have to be uploading to the org's own servers which we can all do safely enough by clicking http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/upload/

Ok. Restart. Please read this carefully as I choose my words very carefully.
First of all, I made this with Vegas 6.0, using -nearly- one episode of Lain, and it only took me about 10 hours, I thought it would take longer.
I know there have been many others like it (same song, same anime, etc). But it is my first one, in fact, I have never touched video editing software before in my life. I have also never touched the "production" side of a-m-v.org before, so the whole upload thing was new to me.
As for the "Final Cut - Music Vid - Intro", I made the intro because I do not know how to yet do the whole MTV ("Song:", "Album:") corner paragraph thing in the corner, which is what I wanted to do. I did not ask for help as this was something I wanted to finish myself, with no help.
I posted the youtube link in this thread as it was already active, I was at this time, if you actually look, uploading the FTP. I just did not know there was a confirmation process until this morning.
On the a-m-v.org listing for the vid, I linked to google the way I did because the it would not accept the youtube link:
Nor does it accept:
It even gives me an error for the link coming back 200 OK for "http://youtube.com/". If a link is coming back "200 OK" then the link is good. So why would it fail this site's checking system?
The fact that you couldn't get a copy at better quality is not my fault, in fact, I even linked to a good copy, on my home system. Which at the time I first posted until now, is available at 50k/bps, and the file is only 13.4M. Meaning that it is stream-able if you can wait a WHOLE (OH! NOES!1!!) minute for the data-stream to buffer. As a side note, the youtube copy is not that bad of a representation, not in full screen of course, but then youtube never does fullscreen well for any type of video.
Ok then on to your latest musing "Infinity Squared".
Every link I gave was indirect, on purpose, the first link went to http://google.com as the youtube links would not confirm, see above. The second was to my own home site and I may change the filename, so a direct link would be dumb. I always assume people have brains and can see that, in fact, the main page of Google (or even my blog) is not the video I made. Then they will go back to the comments on the video's listing which has the link to youtube. In a case like this where getting my video watched by people is the most important thing to me, I don't care if I look dumb by adding bad links. (NOTE: I -ONLY- added a bad link to the listing because the a-m-v.org system forced me)
As well, I assume people read the "producer's" comments, in which case, it asks people to use the youtube and GVideo links (the GVideo link has not been approved by Google yet) before using the jijin.mine.nu address. As, I only have 50kbps for myself and for sharing vids, I would prefer people not to use it. But if youtube/GVideo is unacceptable, a better quality version is still available.
Now, as you've been a complete ass "Infinity Squared" and as you were the first person I talked to on the board, I assume that you are pretty indicative of the people who frequent here. As such, I'm outta here, dont expect me back. My contact info is below for anybody wanting to collab on a project, which I'm more then happy to do.
And the last thing I want to point out to "Infinity Squared" and it'll probably get me banned for swearing or something else pussy like that.
For fucks sake, I even asked for help using the upload tool A FULL 10 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR FUCKING SHITTY POST ASKING TO UPLOAD TO LOCAL. So who's the asshole now? *sigh*...Comprende?
(last thing, I would have probably left anyway, as the forums word filter is annoyingly intrusive, not being able to edit own posts, not being able to direct linking to a specific post, lack of post count/Admin status, and lack nested threading. Which in this day in age is just gay. For those of us who frequent /b/... most of this is now copy pasta, to be used for great justice later.)
