Animethon 13 AMV Contest - All entires shown!
Hi All,
Once again, I'll be running Animethon's AMV contest. Last year we had to add an extra overflow room so that everyone got to watch the contest besides just in the Main Events Room.
As with last year, we will show all the accepted entries on Sunday in one of our video rooms (As I am the Director of Programming for the Event as well, I will ensure that). Animethon had about 3800 individual attendees over the weekend last year and more expected this year.
Information, Rules and the signup form can be found at
http://www.animethon.org/amvrules.php
We will again be featuring our Glass trophies shipped to the winners world wide and all entries will also be put into the AMV archive to be possibly played in Anime Evolution's AMV room as well.
We will also have an FTP site available which should be up in March for uploading entires...

Any word yet on when the FTP site will be up?
I also have a question with the MPEG2 format. I currently have two versions of a video I wish to send. The first one is encoded at 640x480, 29.97fps and non-interlaced. The second is the same except I made it interlaced (as some competitions specify a 480p mpeg2 should be interlaced).
The other major difference though is that I applied some rather nice filtering on the second one (the interlaced one), and hence is noticeably better quality than the first one (however, the quality of the first is still not that bad).
My question is, which do you recommend I send, seeing the second one is larger file size than the first one as well?

Both will work fine, the Netstream 2000 card can encode both interlaced and non... But as I make judging DVDs, interlaced would be the best.
As long as the card can encode it, I will play it as is since it's being played through it for the contests.. If you include one with no credits at the end, it makes it easy for judging as well...
In regards to the FTP site, as soon as I get back from my trip next week, I'll put up the instructions (First week in April)

The FTP site is now up! Instuctions on how to submit via FTP can be found at http://www.animethon.org/amvrules.php
This is the same FTP site as for Anime Evolution so if you wish to submit to both, only one upload along with a filled out entry form file for each contest is required.
Just over 7 weeks to the submission deadline!
