Episode encoding
Well, me and a friend and a bunch of other people are gonna be fan dubbing the first episode of naruto...But my friend wants a copy of the cropped version I have, but I don't know what codec I should use it. What to you people out there reccomend? =O

Well, what codec does the cropped version you have use?
If it's something distributable like DivX/XviD, you can just send that to him and advise him on <a href="http://www.amvwiki.org/index.php/DivX_Editing">what to do with such footage if you want to edit it</a>.

... Oh. In that case, you're not going to find one that keeps the quality <i>and</i> can encode an entire episode to under 5 GB.
You could try Lagarith; I hear that gives better compression than HuffYUV while remaining lossless.
Other than that, my best suggestion would be MPEG-2 at pretty darn high bitrate settings. That should be more like 1 GB than like 5, and hopefully there won't be too much artifacting.
