Perhaps I'm like not getting it.
It seems like every amv I want to see just happens to be "Direct" and when you go to the direct link it sends you to some random site to view there merchandise. Perhaps im confused? Anyone wanna enlighten me please!!

Since they're direct links, as apposed to indirect, you don't need to click on them. Try right-click save-as instead. If it gives you a html file you know the link is bad and you can click 'cancel' without having to get spammed with advertisements.
But you should be able to look beneath the DIRECT link - if there's green text saying the link has been confirmed recently, it's probably good. If it's not green or recent, don't waste your time trying the link.

I've never seen that. But I do get a lot of that with INdirect links. Directs are supposed to lead (as per the name) directly to the video. If you PM the creator and he does nothing, then he (she) is a dick and his (her) vids probably suck.
or you could report htem to the admins just out of spite. (Remember, kids, revenge may be fun but its bad)

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I've noticed that alot of people who use "direct" links have been mistaking them for "indirect" links... they send you to something like "savefile" or "filefront" or "put file" or "rapidshare" something along those lines, (most of those are loaded with spyware/adware so this maybe what youre looking at)
so I usually right-click the link and if it wants to save a html page, I back up and click the link instead to see where they linked... if its one of those sites i mentioned or something similar, i just look for the "download" button... (though alot of them make you wait 20-30 seconds sometimes a minute before they will show it, usually theres a counter somewhere on the page though)
i cant stand it when people dont know how to use the direct and indirect links... guh!
this is why i usually stick to "local" anyways

I stick to local because I can't afford a server
If you hover the mouse over the link, you should be able to see if it leads to a page or a video file, shouldn't you?
