Do you ever...

..start out with a great idea which turns out not to be doable, which then evolves into something that is doable, but it turns out to be overly cliched and done several dozen times before?

I had this amazing idea which basically will not work because
a) The footage doesn't exist
b) I don't know how to pull it off
c) I don't know how to make more than 10 seconds of it interesting

Then it evolved into something that worked and I could see myself doing, but so far down the originality ladder that I won't do it anyway X(

Time to get a new idea, sigh...

Actually it's a general question.

Do you ever have an idea which takes a great deal of thinking/preparing and then turns out to not be worth it at all in the end?

Well... the only time that an idea didn't work which I pursued was when I tried to do it in 3 different ways. I had the music, I had the concept, I just needed the anime... so I went about it in 3 different directions and I got bored of it soon after that. Add to it the fact that my project file got corrupted after I reformated my computer, then there you have it...

The rest of the time, I don't pursue ideas which I can't do. I'm too lazy to get myself stuck on a hurdle that I know was going to be there. I just look for others which could probably do it better and see if they did

Yeah Melody of the Damned, you may remember it from my signiture some time back... went into beta mode, crashed. went into another beta mode, burned, once more boys and gals, drowned, lost all three versions to a hdd failure and well here I am, idea is out the window and well I'd love to have that window shut one day.

that's why i watch the series\movie\ova hear the song\s match the lyrics
and attempt to build a plot around me video
if i see it doesn't match in both randomness of the lyrics matching and certain places where there is no matching at all i quit
cause i'll than have a hole in my plot
i also try and check mood-matching(song to anime)and a lot of other stuff
that's why most idea's i get don't get done
