Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Is it possible?
Yes, I actually made an AMV, and put it on the Org. Who would have guessed?
I had completed this video since the summer, but since I didn't have an FTP application to upload it until recently, this made things rather difficult.
The video is fairly corny, but it works for what I wanted it to do. It's called "Shinji's Way Out", and just to warn you in advance, it's about 84 MB in size (iMovie didn't really let me choose a window size for the file, so it defaulted at a ridiculous 720x640).
And if anyone gives me hell about the teleclining problems, I had to work on a Mac G3 my dad has abused and screwed up over the years. Because every single computer in our house has been manhandled to the point of file corruption, and the incompatibility of the various Mac operating systems I was using, I had to transfer between FOUR different computers.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know of a cheap DVD ripping application for Mac OS X? I know at least one that goes for about $70 at the Mac Store, but is there anything cheaper?

Have you tried Mac the Ripper (free)?Toecutter wrote:Out of curiosity, does anyone know of a cheap DVD ripping application for Mac OS X? I know at least one that goes for about $70 at the Mac Store, but is there anything cheaper?

Re: Is it possible?
Ah... thanks. That should solve my problems. Do you know, however, if it can convert to a format that iMovie can handle?Scintilla wrote:Have you tried Mac the Ripper (free)?Toecutter wrote:Out of curiosity, does anyone know of a cheap DVD ripping application for Mac OS X? I really hate being the only one on this site who doesn't have any serious video editting software. I have to do all of my editting manually (click, drag, copy/paste, or delete) and THEN incorporate it into iMovie.

Maybe I'll consider that in the near future, but honestly, quite a few people on this site prefer to see me dead, so I don't particularly care if they see my work or not. I put it up for the sake of others who want to see what I've made (and that's a very low number of people).Kalium wrote:http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=106241
We like a link to the video being announced.
I'm also rather annoyed at the less than decent ratings so far on the video. I've had three different individuals watch my video before I uploaded it, and they seemed to find it at least acceptable, if not pretty decent. Yet everyone on the Org seems to be giving me less than decent ratings.

i know how you feel, but hey, at least they are honest and just about as unbiased as you can getI'm also rather annoyed at the less than decent ratings so far on the video. So here's to you anonymous critics on the org, making AMV creators a little more wary about sending in crap everyday

Unbiased my ass. I'm getting the same treatment at fanfiction.net with all of my work. I get maybe two or three good reviews, and everything else is a personal attack on what's in my profile's bio.Sobakasu12 wrote:i know how you feel, but hey, at least they are honest and just about as unbiased as you can get :DI'm also rather annoyed at the less than decent ratings so far on the video. Are otakus really this elitist most of the time, or am I just lucky?

I think it boils down to the fact that people on a-m-v.org are tired of seeing crap, so when they see something they don't like their honest about it. The same can't be said of members of other communities, as there's a much lower amount of amvs there, and less crap to filter through.Toecutter wrote:Unbiased my ass. Well, thanks for that wonderful insult, jackass.Prodigi wrote: I think it boils down to the fact that people on a-m-v.org are tired of seeing crap, so when they see something they don't like their honest about it. My video isn't THAT bad. From the reviews I got before posting it online, the people I ran it by at least thought I did a decent job (and no, it wasn't family-my family thinks all anime is porn).

Man, Toecutter, you haven't changed. But believe it or not, not everyone's out to get you. Put down your gun and listen to them for once. I've watched your video. If I were to rate it, I'd give it a 6.5/10, with 5 being average. It was decent. The lyric sync was fairly appropriate, but the action sync was nothing spectacular. The video itself dragged on, and it would have been much better if you could shorten the song by cutting a couple choruses... maybe down to 3:00 or 3:20 at least.
Anyway, as a first video, not bad. I'd suggest trying to get some better editing software, and maybe experimenting some more as far as technique is concerned. Conceptually, you seem to be fine, but your editing could use some work.
