how to tick a file as already downloaded.

Post by gypsy » Mon Jan 30, 2006 12:33 am

Hi.

I've been downloading lots af amv's for years and am wondering if there can be a "already downloaded" option added to the download page for if the person already has the file.

Makes it easier to look for the red blocks on the top10% instead of checking if you already have it. Doing this could save the site allot of bandwidth.

thanx

If the vid is hosted on-site -- A prerequisite for any special features -- it tells you if you're re-downloading it. There's an entire extra screen that basically says "hey, you downloaded this before. are you sure you want to get it again?"

I think the question concerns those files that are not hosted locally, or else files that are hosted locally but that we've got already from other sources and don't want to re-download.

correct. What's the point of downloading it again if you already have it? Having a "already downloaded" box to tick is allot better than using bandwidth up and i'm sure this site uses tons of bandwidth each day.

Hey gypsy,

The problem is abuse of the system. We had things more "trust the member"-friendly, but we had to change it because of some un-nice people. Unless you are using dial-up, re-downloading the vid takes only a few mins and we have pre-paid bandwidth to burn.

glad to c ur still active on the site. Really the stuff of legends this site.

neway. No problem. I used to have dail up. really sucked. now it's faster and let me tell you. Getting a video in 10 minutes is nothing compered to the normal 10 megs per HOUR i'd get if i was lucky on dail up. IF it didn't loose the connection i'd normally get a amv in about 8 hours.

Thanx for the reply.
