Deletion of AMVs

Post by surrealmom » Sat Dec 31, 2005 10:14 pm

Maybe I'll get screamed at for posting this, but does anyone else think that we should be able to take down any AMV of our own for whatever reason? People do make mistakes. I have an AMV that I'm tired of getting negative QC for, I don't believe that people really "get" the joke I was trying to make. It was simply a bad idea to post it. I know that this site is about "having every AMV ever created no matter what"...but shouldn't I have the right to have it taken down if I really feel it should be? I'm not on the boards much so I don't know if people post about this kind of thing too often, so..sorry if I'm being repetitive.

getting bad reviews/comments is part of the proccess... if you didn't want them, then you shouldn't have uploaded the video... you shouldn't worrie about it.

Say someone leave's the forum and whole amv community they are well known and loved for their amv's, just to spite everyone they delete their video's, it would be a disaster for those newbie editors looking for inspiration, I understand that this is pretty far fetched but hey, its possible.

Now yes that would be a good idea, if you upload a wrong video or even want to take it off to change it, but then again you are told like 2-3 different times in different ways, ... are you sure you want to upload this video?

Understood, but as I said- it was a mistake. Probably just like posting this message. Allll a mistake. (that was a bit of a joke, you can laugh now)

I understand the rules, I was just trying to make a point- spark conversation, you know. Live outside of the basement a little. (whoo! Another joke)

See, what I'm saying is that people don't get the AMV. It's all a joke that people aren't catching on to. Maybe I'm just weird, maybe everyone is stupid. I don't know. But the thing is that I really thought that people would LIKE the video, that's why I posted it. And no one seems to.

Since realizing we can now see the bandwidth we've used on the 'edit my videos' page, I've been wishing we could delete our own videos. If the creator thinks a video is old and bad, why should the site insist on letting it sap bandwidth that could have gone to other videos by that creator? I have quite a few really crappy videos that are still getting downloads, quite a few downloads, and no one on this site would miss them if they were deleted.

Deletion requests are already judged on a case by case basis. The problem is that the reasons allowed for deletion are remastering, video error, incomplete upload, and stollen/non-anime video. There's no leeway for "excessive creator wanting to weed through her old crap to make way for her new crap." It's either lie about the reason you want the vid deleted, or leave the vid there to be downloaded by unsuspecting browsers. We can't even delete the vid descriptions to discourage people from downloading them because they're all backed up now.

I think there should be a little more leeway when it comes to approving or denying deletion requests. "People keep downloading it and then wishing they hadn't" may sound like a weak reason, but if the bandwidth for that video is excessive, it's a waste of resources (aka money).

Ok so the joke is you want to delete a video becuase your getting bad reviews? Heres a lesson you should learn fast from life, shit happenes not everyone will enjoy what you create, weather it be entertaining or professional, so from my own experience in that field heres a quote I tell myself when that happenes... "Get Over It", learn it, live it, love it. It saves you from getting upset over the small insignificant details in life.

I wonder who got my joke?
