Time to start a new wave....
Well this whole thing about the music industry is going to put a twist on things for sure. But if this continues and stuff starts falling apart I think it would be time to go out and find local bands and start making music videos for them. Local bands are always trying to get recognized and if you ask there permission more than most likely they'll say yes or they would like to see some of your previous work first. Anyways I've done this for one local band Crimson Orchid and now I'm talking to three other local bands around here that are interested. I said I would do one video per local band per year maybe 2 depending on the time I have. But this could give us a chance to hear music that may not be heard for a while or may not make it into the main stream for whatever reason. So this isn't completely a bad thing.
What do you think?

Well that's another road we'll cross when or if it happends. The anime companies have been at the conventions or have had represenatives there and they haven't said anything yet. They have been at conventions for years now. I don't think they'll say no we don't want you to show our footage. They want people to know that there anime is out there and they realize amv's help that.devilmaykickass wrote:And what if the anime companies start? Do you plan on animating all your own original stuff?
Anyways getting back on topic what do you guys think about using local bands?

I've always used lesser-known bands with fair management - although I'll respect their right to deny me access to the use of their music, provided this comes through their standard, artist-sourced procedure. I've respect for their rights to the music, too.
Meanwhile, I wouldn't despair even then. There's a massive amount of free legal music available online; and when I run out of that - my father is an interesting professional musician himself, and knows a circle of other professional musicians. I'm certain I could find myself music to work with regardless.
