1) Create banners for your sig (Like the two I have in mine for example)
2) Post in the AMV Announcment forums (One shotter)
3) Post a lot if you do have banners (A failing of mine). Its a good way to make yourself known as well.
4) Enter Contests (You usually have a good shot at your vid being seen here)
5) Own a webpage and link it here (Having a indirect next to that Local may help a little bit by being more of an eye-catcher for browsers)
6) Take advantage of posters that are looking for vids sort of like yours (I mainly do this for my Hells Smith's vid that isn't anime whenever one of those "Where are the Non-AMV" threads pop up but it can work both ways)
7) Make an good vid, and as Requiett said it will sell itself... mainly through others talking about it, putting it on their top ten and getting them to advertise it for free whenever someone asks "What vids do you recommend". This is the number one best way of advertising and also the hardest thing to do. There is just so many variables for this one that the only way to reach for this one is that your vid has to be good in some shape or form.
8) Find a spot in the VCA's (Can usually only be accomplished after you succeed at number 7... which probably makes this the hardest part)
9) Ride the popularty Bandwagon (Like Infinity Squared said, grab an anime thats popular and maybe a song thats popular then make an AMV outta them. This will give you at least a good amount of downloads but maybe not a lot of popularity)
10) Kiss a lot of ass (Not exactly sure what doughboy meant but I think it has something to do with number 7 and posting a lot.)
11) Do an Opinion Trade or post your AMV on any free Opinion offerings (Not the best way to spread your work to a wide audiance but at least you know the people your posting it to will probably watch your vid. Could help with number 7 in the long run)
12) Post on other Forums related to AMV's (Like Doughboy said, it always helps to advertise on different sites... just make sure not to annoy them if thats all you went there to do or they may not download your vid for just that reason. It also helps if they know you)

Thats pretty much everything I can think of now. A lot of these advertisements only work if you succeed at number 7 though. If anyone else has anything to include...

grabbing a popular anime/ song and making a crappy video to it is rather backwards... I mean, if you want exposure... It'll get lost in the fold, ever tried to find a certain dbz- In The End amv you d/led off of p2p, it's IMPOSIBLE! especially if it doesn't have a bumper!

Yeah just make a damn banner like everyone else or kindly ask someone to make on for you, stick it in your sig and say, "currently pimping"...

Yeah, but that only really works if you are regular enough in the forums, which Arcane isn't really...

That being the case... well, I'm not really sure about this... but I think at least it helps in getting attention to you... write something in your journal ;)

Apparently people do read them... and though this is even more unfathomable, ther may even be a chance that someone follows what you write, so that if for example you were writing which particular stage of production you're in your video, by the time you release, you may even have people already waiting there for you... but then again, that's just me hoping for the impossible, erm, I mean the best... yeah, that's right...
