That article from The Inquierer (the one SQ linked) has some very nice quotes. They also point out the "analog hole" legislation I brought up.

Funny, I was about to quote that.

After reading all these articles, I don't give a shit about being legit anymore. If CDs and DVDs are going to install stuff on my computer that I don't want, then I'm not going to buy them. Being free to do things like digitizing or encoding videos give me more of a need to buy them.. and give support as long as these right remain.. if they're going to strip them from me then I guess it'll be good for me.. I'll probably get out more, get some nice exercise and spend money on more important things like food and clothes.. If they take away my rights, they take away my respect for being legit, and give me less of a need to buy there things(especially since they have DRM installing on my computer without my consent.)

wow. thats what we get. Lmao, thanks for the offer but if im gonna kill my comp, I wanna do it myself thank you very much. What really sucks about that is, if im gonna buy a cd I have to accually stop and examine it now....Sony just keeps pwning themselves

No! I feel very strongly that that is the WRONG attitude.

In my opinion, it is preferable to live lawfully than unlawfully.

If you think a law sucks, don't break it as a first action. Get it changed.
The USA is one of the few countries in which you can still do this without, say, being shot. Don't say "well, fuck it all".

I agree with you in one way.. the only problem is that getting laws changed are a long process and considering that there are a lot of laws more important that need changing, stuff like this is on a long waiting list. that and the costs a lot of money and again only so much is budgeted... I not saying one should not try, but I wounldn't put editing on hold untill it gets changed for instance

I think in the end both views are on the radical end of the scales... To live to the exact letter of the law is pretty much impossible and not even possible (and if anyone ever tells me they do not break some sort of law in thier dayly lives, they are lying). Now on the other hand breaking laws just or not giving a damn is wrong as well..

So, as with anythign in life, I think a reasonable middle ground sometimes needs to be reached or taken on some laws (no, I'm not applying this to stuff that is perfectly clear like Thu shall not kill, etc, etc)....

For instance, just because a law says I can't tape something does not mean I won't do it, but I not going to go to the full exent of profiting from it or pirating everything...
