Y'know, it's funny, since I was just thinking earlier that RahXephon was probably the first anime I've truly enjoyed just watching in a long while. I mean, yeah, I already have ideas of what I want to do with it, and it is an example of something I found through AMVs (unless my memories of seeing it at Best Buy and wanting to watch it back in 2003 happened before I saw the DE-SIRE video), but I actually did primarily watch it for enjoyment once I got past the first few episodes.Castor Troy wrote:Who actually watches anime for enjoyment anymore? Oh yeah, any fan who doesn't make amvs.

I still enjoy watching anime. I'm new to making AMVs, though; maybe it takes a while for the cynicism to kick in.Castor Troy wrote:Who actually watches anime for enjoyment anymore? Oh yeah, any fan who doesn't make amvs.

This AMV inspired my go and buy Shamanic Princess. I'd seen the series before and enjoyed it, but was still undecided about whether to purchase the anime. The video gave me a 'push' to go out and buy it.

Soooo many series i have bought just for footage. I have probobly seen 90% of the anime i have and hear 50% of it. I dont need no sound when im editing , atleast not from the show.
But im with every one else, i would be out if i wasnt making videos. i would maybe have like 2 series, anything else could be netflixed.

Thank fansubs and AMVs for a lot of my anime purchases.. well probably most of them. Trigun, Love Hina, Vandread, etc I got after watching the whole series fansubs. Also since I edit to anime I have more of a need to purchase anime.. also I've got into a few series after first seeing them in an AMV.
I don't see how amvs could discourage sales of music or anime.. law enforcers better stay away from our butts.

To avoid that, and because I'm still poor, AMV's will sell me on a fansub, the fansub will then sell me the anime.Castor Troy wrote:I ended up getting Metal Fighter Miku after Flux's MM1 Megaman video and I hated it.Kusoyaro wrote:I used to constanstly have people yelling at me, saying "Damn you for making your Utena movie AMV! That video tricked me into buying the movie, which I ended up hating!" Well, in my defense, I loved the Utena movie
