Videos entered at ALL contests
Is there some way to clean up/kick the videos that say they entered their video to ALL contests, when we know they have not and listed such just to gain hits.
One EASY way to find these videos is to do a search for AMVs sent to conventions like Yaoi-con where there is a specific theme. It's amusing and annoying to see all the videos entered to Yaoi-con.
Some will say that we don't know if they didn't enter the video to all the contests they said they did. But when you see a video using an Anime that obviouslly has no Yaoi or Shonen-ai themes entered to Yaoi-con, and check the video to see list of 20+ contests it's entered to, you know something is wrong.

There's some tools being worked on for this.anneke wrote:Is there some way to clean up/kick the videos that say they entered their video to ALL contests, when we know they have not and listed such just to gain hits.

Personally, I prefer to be amazed that people are still managing to miss the big ol' message that says

NOTE: This listing is only for contests / conventions you have actually participated in. This function DOES NOT enter you into the listed cons. If you wish to enter your video into a con, please contact the con coordinator.

They don't MISS the message. They're doing it on purpose.

Note my careful use of the word "prefer".trythil wrote:Stop trusting people.Scintilla wrote:Personally, I prefer to be amazed that people are still managing to miss the big ol' message that saysNOTE: This listing is only for contests / conventions you have actually participated in. Where the contest coordinators are forum regulars, you could leave it to them to enter the contest titles and list the videos that actually participated in their contests. Everyone else would have to request a contest be listed by posting in the site help section or contacting the coordinator (if there is one). But that's assuming the coordinators want that responsibility.
It might help if the contests weren't put on the site until after they've taken place - when we know which videos were and were not shown. And you could put a limit to the amount of time a person has to list a contest that's already ended. A two week window would fit with the vid description limit and limit spammers to only those contests that have taken place recently. That way 2 weeks after the contest someone can check the vids claiming to have participated, and never have to check again (because the contest would be locked thereafter).
Or you could just encourage contest coordinators and attendees to report spam entries more often. They'd know exactly which videos were shown.
