An Eva question ***Spoilers***
I've seen the whole eva series twice and still don't get why in the 24th episode when Shinji and Kawro was in Terminal Dogma, what was the point of Rei generating an AT field. I don't get the importance of that, only thing that happened was that it was detected at Central Dogma and that was about it. Only thing I could think of was that it was foreshadowing for End Of Eva where it explains that everybody has an AT Field and shows how it breaks down and stuff like that. I don't know...I just don't get that...........?

Rei was attempting to stop Karwou (sp?) from entering and merging with Adam (lillith.) - Rei is an angel, so to speak. Rei loves Shinji. Karwou (sp) Merging with Lillith (would that have even been possible?) would have brought about the destruction of mankind (and more importantly to Rei: Shinji.) Therefore, she attempted to stop him.
at least, thats how I figure it.

I don't believe Kaoru was going to merge with Lilith. Remember? He said "What? This is Adam!". He was trying to come in contact with ADAM to cause Third Impact. Lilith and Kaoru would not have caused the Third Impact. Rei had a strong AT Field cuz she was cloned partly from Lilith, just as Kaoru was. I'm thinking maybe she followed Kaoru because she wanted to know what he meant when he said they were alike, and maybe her AT Field strengthened seeing the events that were happening. *Maybe seeing that gave her ideas on merging with Lilith?*
But this is just my opinion, as weird as anyone else's.

Chico: That was the greatest shot I've ever seen.
Britt: The worst! I was aiming at the horse.

Part of it was to show that Rei is in fact part Angel (specifically Lillith, Angel 0), that that is the way she and Kaworu are alike. The other part was that she was trying to stop Kaworu because she had figured out what he was. She was thinking her AT Field could cancel his and allow Shinji to beat the snot out of him.ssj_100 wrote:I've seen the whole eva series twice and still don't get why in the 24th episode when Shinji and Kawro was in Terminal Dogma, what was the point of Rei generating an AT field. For the record, Kaworu thought he was going to merge with Adam. NERV had based their entire Angel-Plus-Adam-Equals-Destruction platform on a false pretense that Adam was nailed to the cross in Terminal Dogma. Kaworu figured out it was Lillith, not Adam. Yet merging with Lillith would STILL have caused Third Impact, as was demonstrated by Rei in End of Eva. That's the reason Kaworu asked Shinji to kill him. He didn't want to sacrifice mankind.
At least that's just my opinion. I don't know why everyone complains it made no sense. Eva made perfect sense to me, including the movies. But then again I'm strange.
