The hardest part of that would be finding the appropriate spices.Vlad G Pohnert wrote:I know it's logisitaclly impossible, but think about having a contest where a noobie must make a video with a Season creator... the Seasoned creator can't touch the computer and can only talk to his partner
I'd join that MEPAshyukun wrote:I rather like the idea of having a contest/event parodying well-known videos. A group of us somewhat seriously discussed the possibility of doing an MEP with nothing but that over dinner at AWA, and it would be a lot of fun I think both for those of us making the videos and a treat for the audience at the con- especially for those who actually recognize what videos are being parodied.
And there's also always (as I think was already suggested, but I'm lazy and am not scrolling back through everything) stealing jbone's 'AMV Gong Show' suggestion from ACen- I think it would actually work far better at AWA than ACen given there's a much higher density of editors and it would likely be far easier to find a panel of bitter old editors to 'judge' the entries, and the audience is already probably quite aware that the convention has a bit of a focus on AMVs.

Personally, I love the idea of being challenged to do a video, as long as the concept is sound and not just randomly made up to be difficult. Pat issued a challenge to me a few years back as well, and the only reason I didn't do it was because I couldn't figure out a good way to pull it off (i.e., I failed the challengeNightowl wrote:I feel the need to say, simply, I really enjoyed my challenge video. I've been mulling this over, and I can't figure out how a "Gong Show" style vid would work in a fixed time format. How'd they manage?Ashyukun wrote:And there's also always stealing jbone's 'AMV Gong Show' suggestion from ACen- I think it would actually work far better at AWA than ACen given there's a much higher density of editors and it would likely be far easier to find a panel of bitter old editors to 'judge' the entries, and the audience is already probably quite aware that the convention has a bit of a focus on AMVs.
Not sure what you mean... we've already got two classic contests...Tyler_yj wrote:Why not just a classic contest with a general classement, without categories ?
Hmmm... the difficulty would be coming up with a list of challenges comperably equal in challenge, and then judging them against one another. Could be all over the place. "Serious drama to Excel Saga". "Pratfall comedy to Now and Then, Here and There". Hmm...Kusoyaro wrote:Personally, I love the idea of being challenged to do a video, as long as the concept is sound and not just randomly made up to be difficult. Maybe compile a list of challenge ideas and let creators pick one they like (with no limit as to how many people can use the same idea). The challenges could cover a large range of concepts...from a "remake a classic" (ie, TriEngel) challenge to a kooky anime/song combination (with the caveat that the combination had to be expressed seriously)....
