There's an easier way to make an .avs script for an .avi video.

Just open up VirtualDubMod, and go to File/Open. Navigate to your file, then look at the bottom of the window. It should say something like "Use AVISynth Template:" and have a drop-down box set to "None". Click that box and set it to "AVISource". When it opens your file, it'll open it with a AVS script that it autogenerates in the same directory (it has the same name as your file, followed by --avisource). Now you have your AVS file to play with and add filters to and such.
Life's short.

If you've got VDubMod 1.5.10 (like me).

If you've got 1.5.4, then there's an option on the File menu, "Open file via AVISynth", which does the same thing.

Actually, I have 1.6.10. I guess that I got the latest version. But there isn't an option to "Open File Via AVIsynth".

Okay, then do what Sousaphonist said with the "Use AVISynth template" feature. If VirtualDub (which I conclude you're using, because there is no VirtualDubMod 1.6 last I checked) has it, that is.

If not, well, then I suggest you get VirtualDubMod...

I tried to do what you guys suggested with the File/Open and then open AVIsynth script, but it doesn't appear in my options. I get an AVIfile that I can open, but nothing that says AVIsynth.

I've even downloaded the VirtualDubMod and got the same results. I know that I have AVIsynth since it is in my program list, but I still can't figure out what is going on.

Image

(Taken with VirtualDubMod 1.5.10)

The drop-down menu at the bottom left -- selecting "AVISource" and then opening your DV AVI file should work.
