Unlike my first video (found at http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=90016), I actually put a little thought and planning into this one.
I've seen the different videos that were out there for Metallica's "Turn the Page", and yeah, they mostly had Cowboy Bebop and Trigun tags onto them. However, they never really had the action or drama that was involved with both series. Seeing as how the song itself is pretty serious, I figured I do things my way and the video that I really wanted to see.
In making this video, I started using Adobe Premiere. But, my computer was giving me problems on the playback, so I switched it over to Sony Vegas and haven't had any problems. It was definitly a little different than Premiere, but once I figured out where stuff was, it got to be pretty easy.
Before I continue to babble, I want to thank my friend annonymous from annonymous for letting me borrow his DVD's in order to make this video. As they say, "You da bomb, Annonymous!"
Anyway, since I have the Sony software package, and I wanted to enter this video into a competition in my area, I had to shorten the song to 5 minutes or under. So don't be surprised if there are a little audio glitches in the music (for those of you who are reading this, that is). After I got the song down to about 4:40, I went ahead and starting putting clips together. I had already written down the lyrics to the song, numbered them and then decided to match each an appropriate clip to the lyric in the song. This really helped me keep consistant. Of course, I let myself have some flexibility and changed what I felt would be a little better when it came time to enter in certain clips. I can also say that after this project, I fell in love with markers in the editor. The markers really helped me when it came to timing certain actions in the clip to the symbols chimes in the song (Trade secret, please share).
Before I end this I just wanted to say that I am going to stick with the Vegas editor from now on. Adobe is a great program, but Vegas really seemed to work better with my computer, and it also has a little more impressive array of trasitions and effects. Well, for those of you who don't know the song, here are the lyrics, in case you want to follow along:
On a long and lonesome highway, east of Omaha
You can listen to the engine moanin' out his one note song
You think about the woman, or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering, the way they always do
When you're ridin' sixteen hours, there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin', you just wish the trip was through
***chorus edited out for due to time constraints***
So you walk into this restaurant, all strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shakin' off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you, but you just want to explode
Yeah, most times you can't hear 'em talk, other times you can
All the same old cliches, is it woman, is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered, you don't dare make a stand
Make your stand
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the Page
Oh, woah, out there in the spotlight, you're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy, you try and give away
As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play
Later in the evening, as you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers, ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said
Woah, yeah
Yeah, here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on that stage
And here I go
Playin' star again
And there I go
Turn the Page
And there I go
Turn that page
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah
Here I go, yeah
There I go
There I go
I'm gone
Like the song says, "I'm gone!" --- Enjoy!
