I watched this video for the first time while still moderately healthy, and it struck me as being some parts that I just didn't get, or couldn't get into. Watching it again to write this, and half delerious from the flu and lack of sleep, I "got" the parts that I didn't get before -- or more accurately, did not notice those parts that I thought I didn't get the first time.
It's wrong to expect this video to be anything other than the captions you use to describe it: serious, other. It's a dark effects demo, and it's a visual instantiation of the music, and it does both very well. I haven't seen the video that did win this caption, but this video may have suffered in the voting because people were trying to "get" it, and it's no more possible to "get" this video by actively thinking than it is to "get" Pantera's treatment of "Planet Caravan" by the same means. Just watch the video, though, and everything becomes just as clear as necessary.
I noticed some unremoved interlacing in the CG pullbacks at the start, but that was pretty much it. Since it's at 25 fps, did you clean this up from PAL? I've had good success with Donald Graft's Smart Deinterlacer filter at cleaning up junk in post/export that AviSynth doesn't catch on PAL sources; haven't tried NTSC yet, but will probably have to on my next work.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Thanks alot.Niotex wrote:AWSOME VIDEO!!!

I guess you understood the purpose of the video in it's essentials which I'm very suprised of since I tought most would try to find a storyline and such things like you described it. About the interlacing at the beginning, well I just didn't know how to get rid of the interlacing in just one scene maybe I'll look up the programm you mentioned here next time I'll use a PAL source but I really prefer NTSC.Kai Stromler wrote:I watched this video for the first time while still moderately healthy, and it struck me as being some parts that I just didn't get, or couldn't get into. Thanks, I actually thought that most people would complain about that passage to be a bit to dark. Well I guess Metal & Effects will be the basis on which I'll build my upcoming video if there will be videos in the (near) future.Janzki wrote:Metal and heavy use of effects is not the most usual combination, but I still liked this video. Especially the part with the red tint at the end was really really good.

Whoa.. I thought that no Metropolis AMV could impress me in any way after I saw Urban Ragnarok.
This one does it, even though it doesn't even get close to the one I use to compare it to, which is because it's great until the singer opens his mouth. Meaning, the song/video combination doesn't work that well, but my god do you try to make it fit by force. Good job ^^b

Yeah, it took some time till the contest was over so I could release it.Farlo wrote:finally
Strange, most people thought the sourcecombo was the best thing I ever made cause the song has some swingy parts just like the music of the film and the lyrics fit very well. But I'm glad my video was able to impress you even if it wasn't as good as Urban Ragnarok (which is really on great video).FoxJones wrote:Whoa.. Awesome video!
I know what it meant to you to build this video, (well I was sitting by your side quiet a long time though and watched the changes). All in all just overwhelming and superior. Well unfortunately you couldn't achieve your great aim, but to me you are the clear winner of the connichi-other-cathegory. So my comerade in arms and good friend, continue and there will be nothing you can't achieve.
