  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

25 minutes should = 250MB at max. But you thought this video would be epic enough for you to whore out a 500MB+ file.

Forget it.
that equation only works if the video is using no filters and is clean as can be. throw in the slightest noise filter and that jumps the file size up a ton. try it sometime...

x2. I also had a really hard time compressing my Pro video, as it had a lot of noise filters and also a lot of avs filters put in.

I absolutely cannot imagine what it would be like to make such a long video that's actually edited well. Maybe you don't rewatch your video ten times every time you change a scene or add an effect like I do, but it must really have been hard to plan overall and get done. Or was it one of those videos that just clicks with you and everything worked out easily?

When I first heard that there was a 25-minute long video in the Pro contest, my first thoughts were that it was some newbie who thought that their badly-edited video would get more attention if it was longer (as I have seen several of those...) I was surprised to find that the video actually was very well done, and that the length actually had a purpose: to tell a story. In truth, the video really creeped me out a lot. The first time I watched it, I was feeling very uncomfortable at some parts. It helps that in general, I hate horror AMVs, and I also am not at all a fan of Marilyn Manson, and to top it all off, I am also a Christian and found the story to be very disturbing. :? But man, I have to say that despite all the reasons why I should hate this video, it's an excellent piece of work and I can't deny that. Congrats.

The weird thing is, I've always seen Manson's music as very Christian. Maybe like the dark mirror to Christianity or something. The story of the Anti-Christ is a pretty scary part of the Bible, anyway, if you have faith. This really ain't the forum for an in-depth analysis of that, though....so....

Great video. I got to see it before most people because I'm cool like that. I should probably watch it a few more times to make sure I get where Manson (and Beo) are coming from with the music and video, so I can either shake their hands or prepare the holy water. I'm still pretty sure it's the former.

Excellent work, especially on the berserk part (IMO surely the best part of the vid so far)

8-)

After the 10 or so public watchings of this, you know how I feel about it.

It's an excellent piece of work and your editing is top notch. I especially loved the Akira and Berserk sections. As I told you before though, the Key the Metal Idol section just does not seem to fit in the order of being last to me. That section, while well done, should have gone somewhere in the middle and the "shoot" section should have wrapped things up, as it was definitely the climax of the video. Also, you know I can't stand the music, so being able to stand 25 minutes of it and not get bored should show you that you did something solid. Awesome job man, it deserves to definitely win something at AWA.

Hmm, I think I'm going to beg my anime club to play this because that was pretty damn impressive.

All the people in the club shall see what true editing is all about! :D

It's a shame people don't like that part, as it's one of the most insanely badass of the lot. Don't take either series in their original context: the settings match, the chaos matches, so what if the character designs don't.
x 2

It does seem a little weird going back and forth between the two styles of animation, but the effects he used make it so they don't clash. Conceptually, it's a great segment, even if it's not as pretty as the rest of the video.
Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Yes. I tried very hard to use the imagery as just that: imagery. Almost no homage is paid to the original anime as far as refferences and story are concerned. I didn't want the viewer to be sitting there thinking "hmm well sinji's hand is covered in cum, so does that make Asuka the Arch Angel Gabriel?".

The images coincide with the lyrics. Thats as far as I wanted anyone to look. Naturally there are many parralels drawn between anime and song choices (example in the berserk segment: "You were the one who put the stick in my hand" showing Gutts as a kid fighting his father figure and then killing him. Naturally anyone who hasen't seen Berserk won't get this, but for those who do, its a nice little bonus of relevence.)

Hopefully people aren't viewing each segment and trying to compare it to the anime's context and relevence, because it wouldn't be much fun that way. Allthough I can understand how the rapid difference in anime style during the FotNS/NTHT can through off some people. Just try to look at it as images. Let the video create its own context.
