I feel there was little ambiguity as to the rules. Furthermore, in order to clarify, I asked at least four questions. It is my opinion that impossible should remain disqualified.

However, I want it clear that I liked the video and was impressed by it. I'm just trying to offer my opinion, especially as I was somewhat confused by the initial request for my participation.

Votes Tabulated

Post by RutKiskasca » Tue Sep 06, 2005 11:09 pm

Ok, the votes are tabulated...

Here's how it broke down...

TJ - Atom, Rinse, Repeat - 1
ZephyrStar - This is HQ - 2
AquaSky - Minor Details - 9
Fall_Child42 - Quiche vs Raisins - 1
Pwolf - Think About Godix - 1
Scintilla - The Least - 1
Decoy - VG - 1
Lucas - 753 of poop - 1
Arima - take me away - 1
Inthesto - Illum - 1
SSGWNBTD - 1

So, your first place winner, with 9 votes, is IcyCloud, of AquaSky Productions, with "Minor Details."

Your second place winner, with 2 votes, is ZephyrStar, with "This is HQ"

Only one person voted for themselves, which was a perfectly legitimate way to vote, but I must say I am impressed that everyone lived up to my expectations of mature, professional editors voting their conscience.

Prizes will go out in the mail as soon as I have addys. I will begin working on the MEP project file (appreciating any help you can give me!) and everyone will receive at least two copies of it in the mail. Just PM me your mailing addresses. We'll discuss a direction for the MEP in #AMV or on the MEP thread.
GREAT job everyone! I am leaving the login active in case any of you want to upload different encodes for the MEP.

Congratulations, IcyCloud and ZephyrStar, and all our participants!

Woot, one vote! Though I did vote for "Minor Details", and I'm happy to see it took 1st. :)

But I must point out that my video's full title was supposed to be "The Least 7.53sec (ADV² Teaser)"...

Sorry, Skylink. I posted in the thread and on the channel that I needed a name for that one. When it was uploaded to the server, it didn't have your name in the file name, and somehow got attributed to IchigoFever. I will fix it in the MEP.

Don't worry Skylink, I told RutKiskasca from the start that Rocketman wasn't my video. ^_^ Apparently he thought it was mine by mistake but I'm sure it'll be taken care of.

-Edit-
Heh looks like RutKiskasca beat me to the punch, neh? Well anyways, congratz to the winners and everyone else! I liked alot of the videos I saw in there!!

Correction

Post by RutKiskasca » Wed Sep 07, 2005 1:01 am

Folks, I tried and I tried to be specific about the rules and methods for voting, but in the excitement all of us got swept up in, I ended up answering a lot of questions over and over again.

A well meaning participant in the contest, who must have missed the instructions on how to vote, sent me their vote via email, rather than on the PM as instructed. Now, the vote was cast on time, just not in the correct location. I felt that "every vote deserved to be counted" and that the editor who received this vote deserved to know.

Here's the chronology...

I counted the votes at 1201 EDT US. I came up with a clear 1st place finisher, and a 9 way tie for second. I cast my vote to break that 2nd place tie.

At 1645 EDT US, one of the editors sent me their vote via email. That email went unchecked until just now. That email would have broken the tie and produced a clear 2nd place finisher without my tie breaker vote, and would have produced a different second place finisher. Now, I still would have placed my vote for ZephyrStar, so we would have ended up with a two way tie for second. ZS would have earned what he got either way, so you should take nothing away from him.

Now, to resolve this, I will announce that the hanging chad, as it were, was cast for Scintilla, and therefore Scintilla and ZephyrStar share 2nd place. It would not be fair to take the prize from ZephyrStar, so I will also award a DVD to Scintilla.

If all winning parties will send me their mailing information, I will arrange for delivery of your prizes. Oh, and by the way, if you would be so kind upon receipt of the prizes to snap a digital photo and post it, I would appreciate it. I am planning a VERY LARGE contest the day after AWA is over, and the prize will be VERY NICE. I recently won a contest that I have not yet received my prize for, and I therefore know the value of contestants knowing that the prize offer is legitimate.

Thanks.

Hoepfully this new contest will have a bit longer lead time in terms of the deadline

I think it's safe to say that many (!) AMV makers will not be available the day after AWA is over. Something to think about.
