opening vob's from original dvd
Is it possible to open a vob from the original (protected) dvd in vdub and, for example, make huffyuv clips?

Why don't you just try it and find out?

Don't think so. You'd need to decrypt it to get around the CSS protection.
It might work but I'm not sure. Try opening the DVD in a player and with the player still open (but on stop or pause) then try serving it to vdub

When I try to copy a protected vob without decrypting an error does pop up. I found a free prog called DVD43 which somehow gets past copy protection so windows treats the dvds as unprotected. Its cool, but then I realised how long it takes to open a vob in vdub from the dvd, so in the end its faster to just rip them to my hdd.
