MPEG2Dec3.dll

Post by digifreak » Sun Aug 21, 2005 10:17 pm

VirtualDub won't load my dvd script 'cause it says it can't load MPEG2Dec3.dll
I'd appreciate it if anyone could tell me what's wrong.

MPEG2Dec3.dll is deprecated.

If you are still using DVD2AVI, then get <a href="http://www.avisynth.org/warpenterprises ... 2Dec3DG</a>.

If you are using DGIndex, then get <a href="http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html">DGMPGDec</a>.

ok, I've got another problem. after I save the video as a .avi it goes all slow when I try to play it. and WindowsMovieMaker doesn't like it either.

That's the problem. WMM, as most other editing programs, doesn't like working with MPEG-4 (DivX, XviD, 3ivX, etc.) video streams.

Use something lossless like HuffYUV or Lagarith instead.

will do. it's just that I've been using xvid before and it worked fine. you see my old hard drive crashed and I have to start over on most of my amv projects.

Yes. So you probably shouldn't be saving whole episodes with it, just the clips you need.

You can edit straight with the AVISynth scripts in WMM2 and not have to encode AVIs at all, if you keep the VOBs on your hard drive. I cover using makeAVIs to do this in my <a href="http://www.aquilinestudios.org/wmm2guide.html">guide to preparing footage for WMM2</a>; it may also be possible to use DGVFAPI (comes with DGMPGDec 1.4.x).
