I'd certainly hope this isn't the case. In fact, I usually see quite the opposite. Save for perhaps contests and the like, this site's based more on community than competition; if someone comes across an especially well-edited video, I know very few who would hesitate to say that they enjoyed it. Resentment and adequacy issues shouldn't be anyone's fuel - if you're just in it to be better than the other guy, why even bother ? (Note: I'm using the general "you" in this case, not in reference to any specific poster.)

That's like saying romance novels aren't smut. Put all the doilies you want on smut. It's STILL smut. I'm not trying to start a flame war. There's just no such thing as an intelligent conversation concerning AMVs.

When you're around, Req, there's no intelligent conversation on anything.

Note that's not a jab on your intelligence so much as it is at your destructive tendency to pick things apart to the point where anything will seem absurd.

Tell that to the people who invite their friends to give all 10 reviews, and the people who specicifically target top 10% videos just to give them bad reviews/stars. The 2nd example being the most prominent. I'm not saying I give a crap, but it's still disgusting how competitive the members here can be.

And especially tell that to the "well respected" editors who do nothing but post to talk about themselves or their videos. They contribute nothing but self promotion and self importance.

Now who's being a pompus/pretentious/hipocritical twerp. What does Yaoi have to do with this at all? Other than stroking your trollish ego? Keep you flames to yourself!

Ha good statment....right....
Hmm...it is what it is, and dont hate on it for being what it is. Yaoi is yaoi, yuri is yuri, whatever you call it its not smut, its a art style that u may not like but dont critize it. Also I dont know about ur convos but there is such a thing as an intellegent convo with amvs. You may just not have any.

Anyway....jumping back on topic here...
anneke wrote:So it would seem that people go for Quality vs Quantity.

Now to my other point of discussion... Does working on 'Quality' hurt the AMV world? I've seen far to many people who spend so much time on a video, and then they send out that one video for over a year to every contest out there that they can. They lack the Quantity to enter every contest and this ofcourse cause other problems within the community (such as Trolling). Do people not realize that a Quality video should not try to fill in for a lack of Quantity?

Discuss...

Anneke
Im gonna sound like a noob but what is trolling?

I try to make Quality over quantity, me still being a noob and all I cant really say much about quantity, but i will work and rework till i get the amv like i want it. I like my shit on point, thats all so ill say quality
Oh god, that black dude with the afro is always making those damn trash ass music hip hop amvs...he needs to do something with techno or rock....
.......as if I would do something like that.

I was about to bitch about all the drama in this thread until I remembered that I love every second of it.

I think the org community does a good job balancing everything out.

1. For the top ten scale list, this is an easy one, if a crappy video gets add, it will get downloaded and watched alot and once people see what it really is, it will get LOTS of bad ops, and that is taken care of. Also, alot of the video on the top 10% have enough well deserved ops that a few horrible ops don't even touch the score, though if it's obvious the ops have no merit behind them they can be removed.

2. This whole community is based on pimping yourself and others. You could make the best AMV ever, if you don't pimp it, no one will know. The fact is most people here want to know what all they can about their favorite creators/amvs.

Truthfully, the best known creators are the ones who go for quality over quantity.

Really there are only 2 reasons to make a video. For yourself, or for others. If you are making them for yourself, then you shouldn't care what people think about them. If you are making them for others... well no one wants to see a video that was rushed.
