What AMVs do we need more of?

goddamnit, I swear I'll get the recs list back online soon. In the meantime, they're definitely out there if you go digging for them.SOAD2k8 wrote:x3Reha666 wrote:i agree with thatCerebralAssamite wrote:Also there isnt nearly enough good metal videos.
ontopic:
Videos that don't require the viewer to have seen the anime used. AMV is by far too anime-centric, and in a lot of cases accessibility suffers. It's also lazy to just assume that the audience is going to be taking certain ideas into the video, so you don't have to demonstrate them explicitly. I don't always do zero-cost-of-access myself, but the degree to which a video is not ZCOA is usually the degree to which it fails.

Dio AMV's
And I would've said Captain Beefheart AMV's, but that's off-topic because you can't make MORE AMV's using an artist that's never been used for AMV's before

Lewis Carrol wrote:"Take some more tea," the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly.
"I've had nothing yet," Alice replied in an offended tone, "so I can't take more."
"You mean you can't take less," said the Hatter: "it's very easy to take more than nothing."

I thought the idea that I'm an alter-ego of Mad Hatter was disproven about 2 years ago
Anyway, I could probably list a whole bunch of artists for whom I'd like to see more AMV's, but it just boils down to my favorite musicians, whether reasonable for the average AMVer or not. There's very few exceptions to the rule that my favorite music either has very few AMVs to it or none at all.
This fact might be a good thing for the three and a half people who actually enjoy my AMV's. If there were even half-enough AMV's to artists I liked - heck - even one or two good King Crimson AMV's - I would probably not be here in the first place, or would quit AMVing shortly thereafter, satisfied with my task having been accomplished - even if not by me.

Good ones.. duh..
..and on to the more serious part:
I'd want to see more AMVs where less known anime is used.. and consentrating to that series only. Many series that I really like have very few to none AMVs made. There are series that has around 10-20 entries where less than half are dedicated to it and from those that are using only this one anime, if I'm lucky, 2 or 3 of those are downloadable..
..and maybe 1 doesn't have subtitles -_-
Also stuff dedicated to sub-characters are always nice.

Aha. Put that one down for me, also. That's definitely something I enjoy seeing, since it really often results in nice, if contextualized, departures from the main patterns of a certain series.FoxJones wrote: Also stuff dedicated to sub-characters are always nice.
I guess on a visual level in general (forget the music for a second), I'd like to see sources used from more angles other than the obvious one. You know, twist the story a little, or avoid the common scenes, themes and characters in favour of putting everything on its' head and, as a result, coming up with something one wouldn't neccesarily expect to see in an AMV to that or other series.

Back on topic: (Personaly) I would like to see more rap/hip-hop AMVs. More good ones to be more precise. I've seen a few that went overboard with lyric sync, others where a good portion of the song was focussing on lip syncing, others where the song and anime don't relate to each other in any way, shape, or form, and others that use songs that are about guns but use anime like DBZ and Naruto. Whether someone else makes them or I make them myself, I think this site could use more good rap/hip-hop AMVs. (For those who want to flame me for liking, choosing, and mentioning rap, you are more than welcomed to kiss my ass)
