Isn't This Kind of like Cheating?

Uhh well I saw today that "Whisper of the Beast" passed Euphoria today (frankly because it's a Naruto video), and decided to go check out really how that could be. Well I think I know: they dont' have scoring on "Digital Effects" enabled, and, if you know your math, that will increase your average (less categories means a higher score overall if you're dealing with high numbers). I personally think it's absurd to say that video has no effects, and I also think that its artificial boost in the standings to #1 is as well.

Well that's my gripe this year, I imagine I'll get flamed by all the video's fanboys. Anyways I think maybe Digital Effects should be an available score or something.

Totally unrelated, but there are half a dozen or so all 1 ops given on Euphoria a couple days ago with names like "cheating" "stillcheating", "stopcheatingok", etc. All given moments after eachother as well... and as you can see, it's pretty obvious that they aren't honest opinions.

Now THAT's cheating (although not necessarily by Scorpians).

This seemed like an issue to me back durring the VCAs. The video was getting a long way under the "best use of simplicity" category, and that rather upset me, personally.

Well, I'll just say this... I *HATE* Naruto with a burning passion. But I like Whisper. And Euphoria, even though RahXephon is one of my favorite anime, I don't like so much. Though, honestly, I don't think either deserves the number one spot '_' that's just me..

I think they really do deserve the places they get, mainly because of the incredible shitlaods of work they had put into them. After trying to do the frame by frame sequences in WotB myself, I understand why people usually make teams of editors to do them.

WotB didn't intentionally uncheck the box. I doubt they would have wanted to lose their guranteed Best Use of Visual Effects in the VCA. But they did

I think Euphoria deserves it's spot because of the masive amount of effort it must of taken aswell...do I think it's as good as it's said to be? Nah, not really...but I do I think the technical work in it is nothing short of fucking insane? Oh hell yes.

I haven't seen that other one yet, mainly because it's a Naruto video, but moreso because I'm on dialup...you people and your stupid 80MB+ videos.

Well look I'm not hear to argue the quality of Euphoria; my glowing opinion of it is not the point. The point is that it isn't fair for Whisper of the Beast to have a higher score based on the fact that "no digital effects" is a lie. I noticed also that the past like 5 opinions for WotB were all straight tens with numbers or random letters as comments.

Maybe I'm just lashing out at FMA and Naruto videos taking the places that all the classics and great older-anime vids are should have, but it's true; it's also true that WotB has effects and that isn't accurately represented in its scoring. So really I don't particularly care if anyone thinks Euphoria or WotB or any other video should be number 1 at this point; it hardly matters since the only way to get up there anymore is to make a Naruto video anyway (I guarantee Naruto's Tecnique Beat will be in the top 5 within a month). But I'm a little upset by the whole straight-tens with no sensible comments and no digital effects category in WotB. Hell I'm upset by the straight 1s for Euphoria (even if you hate it you have to recognize that it's well made), but that's something that really can't be changed. I think what *can* be changed is the effects thing at least (since likely we're not going to reform the system by physically hunting down all the people who thing DBZ + Linkin Park videos are cool and keep giving al 10's to Naruto vids, or get rid of the rabid Naruto fanboys who do the same). Don't get me wrong, I like watching Naruto, but for god's sake...

I'm sure Euphoria has its all tens with no explanations, but really, who gives a fuck what's #1 on the top 10% anyway? :/

Smile. As I recall though, back when I posted an opinion for it there weren't like 5 of such opinions in a row that all said things as intelligent as "fasd" "sdf" and "32o4yq a"

However we seem to be missing the f*************ing point here, that being the issue of the digital effects' absence artificially elevating its score. However I imagine this thread will inevitably just devolove to people saying "well they did this" and "nuh uhhhh" and "Oh yeah well they did this," perhaps mixed in with the ever-present super-intelligent fanboy saying "Naruto pwnz" and/or "Euphoria sucks because I've never seen or don't like RahXephon, and also it doesn't have a fight scene." Oh yeah and "OMGZ Cyric ur stupid and gay, and Whsper pwnz0rz ur mom."

Those of you who just don't like Euphoria, I can't say I understand you, but don't take my ranting stereotype to heart, it's not meant for anyone who's read this far without starting a post based on flaming me.

I gave Whisper mostly 9s and 10s okay? But I am just saying that it isn't fair that there's no way to fully judge it at the moment and that seems like something that could be changed unlike all the other problems that have been brought up.

I'm done posting in this thread; all I wanted to do is bring up that issue because I think it could be changed. Naruto fans I've got nothing against you because I am one. If you want to debate which AMV is better start a new thread, I intended this just to bring a problem up.
