Premiere,OGM-AVI files and more...

Well,up until now I have been using Movie Maker 2 for my amvs but I decided that it is time for a change.

So,I got Premiere(6.0 version) but I face a lot of problems already(before even starting making an amv)

First,
Is Premiere compatible with ogm files?What I mean,can I import them into Premiere or not?Because I tried it and it couldn't.
If not,is there a way to import them?By converting them for example?Basically,I want them because of the perfect quality they have!!!

Second,
I uploaded some AVI files(Gundam Seed Destiny to tell the truth) but I couldn't see them in the monitor window when I added a part of them in the timeline.I could only hear the sound when I saved it for a preview.
While I did the same thing with Hunter X Hunter which are also AVI and there wasn't the same problem.What is going on?

If there is someone willing to help me,I would be very glad.

Don't use XviD/DivX files (directly) in Adobe Premiere.

Either convert the clips you need (NOT whole episodes; you will not have the room) to a lossless codec, like HuffYUV, or serve the files via AVISynth (with the AVISource() command).

The same thing goes for your OGMs. You can use <a href="http://virtualdubmod.sourceforge.net">VirtualDubMod</a> to convert them.

And no OGM video stream using a lossy codec has "perfect quality", which I think you will discover when it comes time to recompress the footage after editing. Better break out those smoothing filters...

I personally only use AviSynth scripts in Premiere now. It just makes it so much easier to change things around later. For example, you can use the script to open an AVI/OGM file now and then later you may decide to switch to using raw ripped DVD footage in a different directory. As ong as the script is in the same place Premiere is none the wiser.

I had tons of problems trying to improve the quality of my vids later on, or switch footage, until I discovered this. There's a plugin for Premiere 6.0 that will directly allow you to open AVS files. You might have it already, if not you'll have to search for it yourself as I can't remember where I got it from!

Firts of all,sorry for being late to answer but I finished with exams yesterday and I couldn't find a lot of time between to occupy myself with video edititng.
Anyway,I downloaded both programs you mentioned but I have some questions about VirtualDub.
Is it only capable of cutting clips and save them to one codec or is it also able to reduce the size of the video in order to cut subtitles?If yes,then how is this possible?
Because all I could do was cut clips from episodes and I didn't even know to what type of codec to save it to.And the saved clip was worse than I could ever imagine.

Sorry for troubling you with these matters but it's the worst thing to have time and patience to make an amv but to not be able to do even the basics!!

Add the "null transform" video filter, then click the Crop button and set it to crop as much as you need in order to hide the subtitles.

You might be able to get it to work with:

DirectShowSource("C:\mypath\myogm.ogm",fps=###)

(with the appropriate frame rate in place of the pound signs)
