I always found it facinating when people who don't like MADs argue that they have no story, have no creativity, etc compared to AMVs. On, the contrary, I feel that MADs on average often have vastly superior stories to AMVs, and as far as creativity goes, they are simply UNMATCHED
Hey! Do not flame ^^'! It was just a personal point of view. Besides, i badly chose my words: instead of creativity, i meant variety. I just feel like MADs is more like a "category of AMV" than something we can differ from AMV. We could have called them Anime Japanese-Music Videos / AJMV... ;) (Again, it's just my personal feeling)
PS : And i prefer your "surfing on the blocs" to any MAD i've seen so far...

That's the generalization I was against.

What the hell? First off, I'm black, and in the place I was living, I was forced to listen to rap all the time, whether it's my older sis, or the next door neighbors blasting their damn music. Beatie Boys and Run DMC don't sound different at all compared to the newer stuff, except for the fact the older ones had different lyrics.

I listen to alot of Rock now because their lyrics can be very random from talking about a girl to singing about pink shoelaces. It's lyrically different, but they always have that damn guitar screaming in the back in every rock song. "not saying it's bad, just saying it's always there"

Love to argue some more, but I'm pissed about what happened at the party I went to last night, and we're supposed to be talking about MAD's anyway.

Zarxrax wrote:In my eyes, its like the MAD creators are a PS2, and amv creators are an NES. Theres a lot of damn good NES games. There's also a lot of good PS2 games. PS2 games have a huge advantage over NES games in terms of graphics and such, but NES games work better for the VG3 project :|
Also, my PS2 broke after a year while my 12 year old NES is still kicking strong. :P
Quoted, because my PS2 is screwed, too, and my old SNES (I lost my NES when we moved) still works, and you bit back with his own analogy.

Not to encourage Zarx or anything, but, honestly, he would have been better off comparing an NES to the highest end gaming rig ever. Just sayin'. (1. Gamer. 2. Anime Fan. 3. Editor <-- that's what I am, in that order. You mention gaming, you get me started.).

On the Jpop argument... Gah, who cares? I listen to it from time to time (not as much as I used to), and it's all right. I do admit, some of the songs used in MADs are annoying. Mostly, they're just random shots to music, about on the level of, say, a Naruto/Linkin Park video, it's just that it's done by someone who knows AE inside and out.

On the effects argument, I, personally, try to stand in the middle. Though, I do dislike it when a video that isn't even solid enough to stand on gets a lot of attention because it has tons and tons of effects, while an extremely solid piece gets passed over because it doesn't give everyone eyegasms.

On the actual note of the MADs, I like them OK, but they aren't the best thing ever, they just don't seem to have any impact, and for some reason, none that I've seen have really made me go "HOLY SHIT, COOL EFFECTS!" The only video (period, AMV or MAD) I can think of that did that was Olin.

Meh.

~Tono~ I'm not sure whether or not I was useless there...

Funny though, this talk about ps2 and nes - m@d and amv's, makes me think back to the good ole days you know games on the nes still kick the shit out of ps2 games today, I personally (which makes this just an op not a fact) would rather have gameplay anyday over graphics and guess what? I did take a look at Diablo people.

What does you being black have to do with anything? I'm white and I listened to a metric assload of rap and hip-hop during my early teens to the point where I could pick out different producers by their style. You're just an idiot.

I think this thread needs to be locked if it's only a harborer of insults.
