That was a pretty good Kimagure orange Road video. I liked it.
I had reservations though, Like some others probably have already said, Some of the timming and pacing feels off. Editing wise. I thought for the most part you synched lyrically well, although at times a bit too literall to the point of being a bit cheesy. (Like turn on the lights, Open the door, etc)

I liked how you showed the band and whats his name playing during the guitar and piano solos, but I thought it wouldve been nicer if you attempted to synch the instruments to the music ;p Not an easy task, but would make a much better synch.

I also thought alot of the scenes were too static. too still and stayed on the still frame too long. When I still an image, in most cases I don;t like how static it is, I'd do a slow pan in (using the zoom funtion) or pan out, or slide slowly from side to side, something to have something moving on the screen than an obvious freeze frame ;p But thats me.

Anyways, Liked the video, but could've been better. Good job anyway. I'm keeping this one since I am a KOR fan, and its one of the better KOR videos I've seen so far.

Those were symbolic/metaphorical synchs as well. They weren't JUST literal. They were based on the actual actions in the movie.

Turn on the lights was supposed to represent Hikaru's memories. It isn't a literal synch if you want to really get down to it. Only one boy and one girl, at pub, during the daytime... But in retrospect I realize I didn't communicate that effectively.

In the first part you mention I did synch them to the music. Frame by frame, overlay by overlay, beat by beat. I'll show you a screenshot of premiere if you don't believe me. It took forever. The second part, admittedly, was not synched.

The video suffered through that in every beta and stage. In truth, the motif of the photography (you did catch why that is significant, right?) meant that I was trying to balance making it obvious the scene had "posed" and then, *snap*, the picture. You never got to see the first beta, so if this execution of motif bothered you in the final version, you would have hated the first render. In addition, not ever freezeframe was mine. Several were in the original source footage. Going back to the motif, I was trying to be true to the feel of the series. I think I did that effective.

Anyways, Liked the video, but could've been better. Good job anyway. I'm keeping this one since I am a KOR fan, and its one of the better KOR videos I've seen so far.

Perhaps I'm biased, but most KOR videos are excellent videos. The exceptions are no comparison either. If the KOR video isn't good, it's horrid. I have yet to see an average KOR video. Thanks for your comments, and nice to know I made your hardrive.

I DL'ed and from my stand point wasnt too bad. The main thing that got me was in fact, lol, the drum syncing. I did grasp the meaning of the video quite weill even though I have never seen KOR. The quality of the vid is also good but something strikes me as not being ripped right for the computer. It's a 16:9 widescreen rip that makes it too stretched out on normal 4:3 screens. Its a simple fix you can do with Virtual Dub or using TMPGEnc to rip it into its correct aspect ratio. Also I noticed alot of interlacing during your second "photo twirl" around the edges and actual image of the photo. Dunno if you forgot to remove the interlacing or got the stepping wrong or what not, but was noticeable.

Im kind of sleepy so ill try and write a more thorough review later. But all-in-all I give it a 4/5 =)

*blink* Er, no. It is not 16:9, it is 1.76:1, actually. The original film movie was 1.66:1. 704x400 is the resolution straight off the disk.

I de-interlaced as best I could. Someone with more avisynth skill probably could do a much better job. Thanks for the download and review.

Thats interesting...i've never heard of that aspect ratio. 1.76:1 is practically 16:9 anyways (16/9 = 1.78/1). Hmm guess I had better do some looking up of this >_<.

Neither had I or any of the others I spoke to. It was trythil who figured out the aspect ratio was 1.76:1 when he ran the calculations, and was also the one who located the information that the original physical film was 1.66:1.

1.66 - 35 mm European widescreen standard, also Super 16 mm.
