Quickie review:
Good:
- Song Choice
- Concept
Bad:
- Video Quality
- Sound Quality
- Subs
Neutral:
- Editing Synch
General comments:
This video started out really, really good with the exception of the subs. Almost appeared as if I was watching a Big Big Truck beta for a minute or so, and that is a huge compliment. Song choice was appropriate to the scenes you chose from Cowboy Bebop and the story you wanted to tell. I liked the concept, although as stated, I've seen it better done. Still, that's comparing you to EK, and I admit that's way unfair to you.
However, as you continued, subs started appearing, your editing synch fell off, story coherency dropped. By the middle of the video, it was already clear you weren't watching for appropriate clips. Video quality and sound quality were shot to hell, probably because of WMV. Especially as this was a very, very low filesize. Clean it up, encode into either high quality WMV or something else, rethink some of your scene choices, kill the subs, and match more action to the beats where you can, and this could be a really good video.

Yeah, i have certain technical difficulties. I had to download the episode because I dont have a capture card because I cant afford one. The only version i could find had subtitles, which is what accounts for the subs being there. i couldnt find a way to get rid of them with Windows Movie Maker which is the only software I have.
that lead to th fact that i could only use certain scenes and cut around subtitles which was very meticulous indeed. the only subs I allowed were ones i felt held some signifigance. Such as Julia explaining why she left and the this is all a bad dream scene at the end. I mainly only left those because I liked the black rose too much and felt it held too muck signifigance, and the scene where he flashbacks n Julia also held too much signifigance to the whole atmosphere so i felt it was alright to sacrifice certain things.
I also am not sure how to change file quality. I am not exactly a technical dynamo and fail at most things when technology is involved.
All in all i tried to get the jist of the episode becaus that was the only episode I could get to work. I wanted to get the leading up to the detah of julia and Spike getting to, and killing vicious. Those were my priorites and it was difficult to cut through all the BS to get to it and get it as well synched as I could around subtitles.
Thanks for the input and I definetly appreciate it. i am looking to buy a special USB port to Route my DVD player through a camera and into my computer old school style, but i have to find one first. I appreciate the compliments and the criticism, and thanks for not being an ass like some people tend to be when they review something.

There's no need for a capture card or a USB device -- you can rip DVDs with any DVD-ROM drive. It's easier than capturing, too.Fading Light wrote:Yeah, i have certain technical difficulties. I know how that is, Im in the same situation, I made a video a while ago, got lots of bad comments, but the reason it was so horrid was because of all the problems you have, I had to dl the show and I only have movie maker.
You're video was better than mine, my problem was (since it was my first) I tried to add abit to much effects which isn't needed and it lags abit. If I had a better program Im sure I could make better vids, as could you. I just hate when people judge you as if you are a proffessional and should know better even though you're limited to the worst possible programs (like someone did with me).

I dunno, constructive criticism is always welcome. it isnt like everyone knows that my software is sub par. I am working on getting my hands on a copy of final cut pro. that should make my videos kick way too much ass.
thanks for the compliment on my video. this was actually my second, I made one with FFX earlier, but never posted it. Its not that great. My Fiance likes it, but i know I can do better. i just need more footage. Actually, technically this was my fiftth, since I made three music videos my senior year for films class. I used Resident Evil (the movie), Back Hawk Down, and A man apart for my videos. My Resident Evil one was the best I have ever made. It was seriously off the chain, and I did it with F C pro. Once I get that my quality will go way up.
