I actually made this one last week, but I only now have the cahones to post an announcement about it.
I took Monster (yes, fansubs, I know, for shame...) and set it to 'Butterflies and Hurricanes'. I just wanted to let the world know it existed. Especially since there are far too few Monster vids out there.

My personal comments on the video are endlessly self-deprecating...but I stand by my assertions. The tech aspects do not please me at all. But I would like to know what others think about the video itself.
I'm not a flashy creator...I like After Effects and all but I don't tend to use the program. So yes, it's simple. Hopefully simple is good.
And now, to the gallows go I, by announcing it here...*braces self*
Two Monster vid announcements in one day? What are the odds?

Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
- Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
- Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
- When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
- Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Great, a Monster video! Needless to say, I'm already biased in favour...
Awesome feel for the story, great match between sound and visual. I can tell a good bit of conceptual work went into it - sure, a linear-enough video, but it hits the right notes.
I also love the editing. I think this is the way to approach a Monster video - simple, stark, character-focused. I always hope to see more videos like this.
The video and audio quality speak for themselves though... too bad - but it didn't prevent me from enjoying the video. Granted, even with the sources you had, I think you could've done a slightly more smoothed-out job.
I'm glad that didn't stop you though. It was well-worth it, even if the "technical aspects" weren't all that stellar to say the least.
Keep it up. You've got a great, simple editing style!

Well, the reasons for that are easy enough - there's no official release, thusly good footage is hard to obtain. I would make an all-out Monster AMV in a snap, but I'm hesitant since I only have fansubs. Maybe when it's licensed...shadowomega wrote:Especially since there are far too few Monster vids out there.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Nice, nice job. The technical issues with the audio are inexcusable, even if the video may get a pass because of the source situation. Regardless, this is an awesome AMV. 5/5 - I couldn't bring myself to take a point off for mere technical stuff.
I've got a Monster "epic project" planned to start editing in probably a few months; one of the upsides of being transferred overseas is that my employer is paying my rent....leaving me with extra money for paying loans and buying R2s. There are 45 eps out now on DVD-box, and this one is well worth the cash and ship time to Europe.

Shin Hatsubai is a Premiere-free studio. Insomni-Ack is habitually worthless.

Hehe, sorry for going OT for a second - but I can't wait to see THAT from you...Kai Stromler wrote: I've got a Monster "epic project" planned to start editing in probably a few months; one of the upsides of being transferred overseas is that my employer is paying my rent....leaving me with extra money for paying loans and buying R2s. I thought of importing the R2's, in fact I still am. But the last I looked, they were very highly priced, certainly a bit too high for someone currently unemployed. Granted, they're definitely worth it.

Perhaps one day this one will get remastered, hmm?
