Post by gypsy » Sat May 21, 2005 9:13 am

Hi all. I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this topic so feel free to move it if you want to.

I need Sattelite Internet. I need to Send and Recieve the connection through a dish since I don't have a land line and I move around allot. I'm in Michigan now and I'll be in North Carolina from August.

If anybody can give me a heads up on which isp / whatever I need is good i'll apreciate it.

Thanx in advance.
Cheers vir eers

If you're in an urban area, you should be able to find wi-fi hotspots (public or for-a-fee). Otherwise, the wireless phone companies always have some kind of data service requiring the purchase of an aircard (modem) and monthly charges. Data rates are very slow.

These same companies (Sprint, Verizon, Cingular) will have wireless broadband within the year. Watch for services called EVDO, HSDPA, etc. It's available now in certain cities. Data rates are said to be from 1/2 Mbit to 10 Mbits. Read more about it here.
