Samurai Champloo - Almost Over

Post by djunknown » Tue May 17, 2005 5:48 pm

Hi all. I'm new to the video making world and I was wondering if you all would be so kind to check out my video and give input on my 1st attempt! any help is appreciated. Here's the description:

Video: Samurai Champloo Episode 1
Song: Rockstar (jason nevins mix) - NERD

This is a video of Samurai Champloo (episode 1). I didn't add any other episodes as not to spoil it for the people just getting into the series. Maybe later on I'll do one of all 26 episodes. But anyways, effects added to the film:

Old Grainy Film - Well, it is a samurai show, so I added a grain effect to make it look like an old samurai movie. I made the battles in black and white and the talking parts in color. As the film progresses I tried to make it seem like the film was rotting away to get worse and worse quality.

Music Matching - I made the song lyrics match with the subtitles to make the actual video have meaning to it, and not look like a cluttered mess. I also made the sword swipes line up with the beat as much as I could. Sometimes I couldn't but that should be understandable.

Story Telling - I made the film sort of jump back and forth between scenes. The talking parts are on the slow parts of the song, and the battles are during the chorus (sort of pump you up for the fight).

Hope you like it and can give me pointers on what to look out for or what to do later down the line. you can find the video here:
