You should put their quotes above your reply, not below it. That way people don't read your entire post in a confused state before seeing the quote and realizing 'oh, he was replying to that.'

Plus, most people are smart enough to not require quotes to know who's replying to whom.

besides if they are smart enough to not need the "quotes" then they should also be smart enough to not worry about the order of in which a reply comes.....

I am not posting on the forums anymore... I dont need this

I always viewed overall as exactly what it says, what did I think overall? It's a score for what I thought of the video as a whole rather than a specific aspect of the video. This is the score where I can basically say 'I know I gave you a 6 on video quality but that didn't really hurt the video' or 'Sure you got a 9 on audio quality but that doesn't mean you video doesn't suck'.

Review is somewhat different and I gotta agree with Bakadeshi. I know of quite a few videos that are good and worth seeing once but just aren't that reviewable. It's a shame not being that reviewable keeps something out of the top list. If you think about it, some catagories almost demand a low review score. The best horror AMV isn't the one you watch all the time, it's the one that scared you so much you never want to see it again.

You have to admit though, there is a relationship between the two. Lower scored videos get fewer people that give insiteful and helpful opinions to even bother to watch them (that's a problem in an of itself, but an observable fact nonetheless).

I'd say that's because for people like myself that like to give helpful and useful advice it feels like it'll be either wasted since a lot of crappy videos could have been better if the editor had simply took the time to do simple things, AND because it's hard to go on for pages about bad stuff, and two sentances about good stuff without feeling like you're browbeating.

About that formula earlier, I thought that the average scores weeded out the highest and lowest score to minimize all tens or all ones overly influencing the average. Am I was off base here? I'm thinking of some announcement that Phade made when describing the new averaging system.

Note: The top and bottom 10% scores are removed from the average calculation (also known as the "Olympic Average")

score = Bayesian Average(avg(compscore+overall+review))

Bayesian Average = (v ÷ (v + m)) × R + (m ÷ (v + m)) × C

where:
R = average for the video (mean) = (old score)
v = number of votes for the video = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in the top 10% (7)
C = the mean score across all videos (average all vids)
